WSP is seeking a highly experienced Field Traffic and Detour Inspector to join our team in Riyadh. This role involves overseeing traffic management and detour planning on road and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with supervision consultants to ensure efficient traffic flow and minimal disruption during construction.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to use a methodical approach and provide a practical and reasonable evaluation of the risks and potential consequences identified taking into account all highway users and in particular the most vulnerable.

Your new role, what's involved?

  • Plan, Review & Implement traffic management plans for road and infrastructure projects with consideration for pedestrians, cyclists, and other vulnerable road users.
  • Implement and oversee detour routes and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to manage traffic impact.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitor traffic conditions to ensure effective implementation of plans.
  • Oversee traffic-related incidents, such as collisions, and coordinating for the swift removal of debris and other risks. Analysing the incidents and make necessary changes as required to prevent future incidents.
  • Address and resolve any traffic-related issues promptly and effectively in coordination with contractor, supporting stakeholder team to resolve traffic related complaints.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to traffic management and detour plans.
  • Contribute and support the development of road safety projects
  • Contribute to the development of road safety policies and procedures
  • Deliver road safety advice and interventions
  • Support effective relationships with internal and external partner organisations.
  • Assist in advance planning of activities using practical and procedural knowledge.
  • Undertake site visits and attend meetings with internal and external partners.
  • Produce written reports and summaries to be made available to senior managers including project proposals, progress reports and evaluations.
  • Make decisions on the design the layout and management of traffic systems
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that all traffic, including pedestrians, cyclists and vulnerable road users are considered in any scheme
  • Provide a highly visible presence at road traffic incidents

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in traffic management and detour planning, with a focus on road and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of working with Project Management consultants and managing complex traffic scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to make quick decisions and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Familiarity with local traffic regulations and standards.
  • Experience of project development.
  • Experience of working with a variety of people and organisations.
  • Experience of analysing data.
  • Experience of road safety and or highway engineering.
  • Essential Knowledge, skills & abilities.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Investigating and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to develop good working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to be effective in negotiation and influencing skills.
  • An ability to effectively deal with complaints and finding a resolution.
  • Excellent level of ICT skills including but not limited to MS Office – Word and Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to manage a broad and varied workload and work within given parameters to deadlines and targets.
