About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Telco Cloud Lead to join our Engineering & Networks team based in the Middle East. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact telecommunications cloud transformation programs and lead the architecture and implementation of next-generation cloud-native infrastructures across mobile and fixed network domains.
As the Telco Cloud Lead, you will own the cloud solution strategy, drive cloud-native enablement across domains such as RAN, core, edge, and MEC, and lead the migration of legacy telecom environments into modern cloud-native platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Solution Architecture
Design scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures supporting telecom workloads (2G–5G, edge, MEC).
Develop end-to-end architectural blueprints aligned with network transformation roadmaps and service innovation.
Technical Leadership
Drive technical direction across engineering, operations, and product teams.
Define architectural principles, capability requirements, and implementation roadmaps for cloud-native networks.
Cloud Migration & Platform Strategy
Lead the migration of VNF, CNF, and bare-metal workloads to private and hybrid cloud environments.
Guide the transformation of on-prem telecom systems to cloud-native platforms.
Cloud-Native Platforms & Network Virtualization
Architect solutions for cloud-native platforms supporting engineering and operations.
Lead initiatives involving SDN (Data Center, WAN, SD-WAN), NFV, and virtualized network functions.
Automation & Orchestration
Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for network function deployment using CI/CD pipelines.
Introduce automation frameworks and orchestration tools across the cloud network ecosystem.
Cost Optimization & Operational Efficiency
Provide strategic advisory on cost-effective and performance-optimized cloud deployments.
Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals.
Disaster Recovery & Continuity
Design disaster recovery and business continuity solutions within cloud and hybrid data center environments.
Collaboration & Documentation
Engage with cross-functional teams to gather NF requirements and ensure comprehensive architectural documentation.
Foster strong collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Master’s degree or industry certifications (e.g., Kubernetes, Red Hat, OpenStack, AWS, TOGAF) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in telecom cloud architecture and delivery.
Proven success in greenfield deployments and mission-critical telecom environments.
Technical Skills & Domain Expertise:
Cloud Platforms: OpenStack, OpenShift, FusionSphere, FusionStage, KVM, Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, SDS
Telecom Protocols: Deep knowledge of mobile and fixed telecom architecture and protocols
Virtualization & Containerization: Experience in VNF/CNF orchestration, SDN, NFV
Networking Technologies: Expertise in underlay/overlay networking, SD-WAN, virtual routing
Open Source & Ecosystem Tools: Familiarity with CORD, MEC, ONOS, ONAP, OPNFV, LF Networking
Domain Focus: Fixed, Mobile, Enterprise, Converged Networks, Cloud-native Telco transformation
Data Layer Architecture: Understanding of data pipelines, access layers, and analytics enablement
Languages
English: Fluent (required)
Arabic: Professional working proficiency (preferred)
