Technician, SM & EM Stands

Job Summary: The Technician, SM & EM Stands is responsible for performing routine Maintenance of Fixed stands and Adjustable stands of Sizing mill and Extracting mill stands.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Should be able to dismantle the rolls, inspection and re-assembling of rolls as per rolling plan
• SM/EM stand Washing before assembling the rolls.
• Replace the V- seal if damaged
• Should be able to dismantle the bearings and other spares from the stand and assembling after servicing.
• Should be able to inspect the bearings (MEP and BEP), rectify the play as per assembly requirement.
• Measure and visually inspect the Spares and seals for surface and dimension defects in order to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect Cleaning & general housekeeping of machine/area.
• Provide training and development to co-workers and ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
• Should be able to operate the crane by remote
• Should take care of himself and co-worker while doing assembly with crane.
• Help to upgrade the Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices with new applicable Idea.
• Read, understand and apply all policies, procedures (including SOP’s), instructions, rules, regulations (including safety, environment & quality) associated with this position.
• Respond appropriately and where required, provide information, reports and communicate effectively.
• Provide the best possible output to ensure the best possible product
• Completion of all required paperwork, records and data collection.
• Perform all additional activities assigned by the Tooling shift SV.
• Completely bearing play, adjustable mechanism by full open/ close of the roll gap

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong technical skills, ability to read technical drawings and to be competent in measurements with micrometers, dial gauge and vernier calipers.
• Good understanding about the tolerances, handling and play rectification of two row taper roller heavy bearings
• Effective communication skills, willingness to work in a team environment.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Technical certification in “Assembly/Fitter” discipline or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in assembly area in heavy steel industries.
