Technician, Collapse Test

Role Summary: The Collapse Test Technician is responsible for performing collapse testing activities on tubular products and other metallic materials in the Testing Laboratory.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Respect all safety rules, general and specific, during work.
• Conducting collapse testing according to procedure and specified requirements using suitable equipment.
• To properly operate equipment within work area and monitor their performance.
• To stop operation and immediately inform the Mechanical Laboratory Supervisor when the machine is not working in the correct mode.
• Responsible for the quality of operation performed.
• Ensure the safe handling of samples during storage and transfer to avoid any damage/ deformation to sample and to maintain the identification.
• Ensure identification mark is retained or transferred on the test specimen.
• Maintain the identification and traceability of test specimens at all stages of machining operation.
• To immediately notify Mechanical Laboratory Supervisor regarding found sample defects and other testing problems.
• Prepare required consumables, spares, tools, and forms.
• To interpret test data and prepare the test report.
• Strictly ensure that the records generated from the testing activities are legible and accurate, including the use of the right form in latest revision and presentation.
• Take measures for preserving good housekeeping at work area.
• Perform other job responsibilities as may be assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Diploma in technical course/ Diploma in Industrial high school Mechanical laboratory background or related field.
• Minimum 2 Years testing laboratory work experience in manufacturing sector , steel-related industry in seamless pipe mill is preferable.
• Set-up with strong background in metallographic testing (Micro, Macro, Grain size, inclusion, Jominy, Sulphur print).

Skills:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Strong demonstration of the following:

• Good organization, Attention to detail, Multi-tasking, and Effective time Management
• Strong background on conducting destructive testing, including but not limited to
• Collapse test, using suitable equipment.
• Able to read and interpret process control documents (POC, procedures, work instructions) containing product manufacturing and quality requirements.
