Overview of the Role
The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive application engineering support to drive new equipment sales and enhance the performance of the existing fleet in the market. The role supports Ashok Leyland’s dealership strategy by ensuring maximum machine uptime, optimized application performance, and strong customer retention across KSA.
What You Will Do
- Manage technical submissions for standard and special application solutions, including coordination with customers, suppliers, and the sales team.
- Support customer visits and ensure timely submission of technical proposals, offers, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with the Construction Equipment (CE) team to provide technical assistance, including customer engagements, technical submittals, competitive benchmarking, comparison studies, and training arrangements.
- Ensure effective and timely execution of assigned technical support activities.
- Collect, compile, and submit required reports in a timely manner, including:
o Lost Sales Report and Tracker (monthly)
o Quoted Participation Rate (monthly)
o Prospect Sheet (monthly)
o Customer Satisfaction Survey (as per Ashok Leyland agreement)
- Conduct and supervise machine demonstrations, competitive machine inspections, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) studies.
- Prepare and submit competition analysis reports, TCO studies, and demo performance results.
- Review and implement KSA MRS (Market Requirement Specifications) based on competitive and market studies.
- Communicate product updates, developments, and specification changes to Sales, Service, and Parts teams, including quotation specification updates.
- Ensure competitive and market-aligned product offerings through close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to support customer-focused events such as seminars, exhibitions, and marketing campaigns.
- Ensure availability of approved brochures, marketing materials, and giveaways.
- Contribute to the submission of effective marketing plans for management review.
- Supervise operation and maintenance training at customer sites upon machine delivery.
- Ensure correct machine utilization in line with intended applications and operating standards.
Required Skills to Be Successful
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of Construction Equipment with hands-on experience in machine operations and applications.
- Working knowledge of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Good understanding of diesel engines and electrical motors (variable and fixed speed).
- Strong diagnostic capabilities and proficiency in PC-based tools and systems.
About the Team
You will be part of the Product Marketing team and will report directly to the Product Manager, working closely with Sales, Service, Parts, and Marketing teams.
