JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
To supervise the activities of technical staff assigned to the Secondary Calibration Squadron.
To resolve production and training related problems and ensure that calibration and repair tasks are being performed in accordance with RSAFI 4-7702, and other RSAF directives.
Supervise the resources and staff under his control to ensure the timely and efficient accomplishment of the task in accordance with established procedures or as directed by the customer.
Assist and advise the RSAF in the planning and technical supervision of the Secondary Calibration Squadron in accordance with RSAFI 4-7702.
Submit recommendations to MetCal management to improve organisation, resources or operational procedures. Initiate requests for equipment purchases to develop and upgrade measurement capability.
Ensure that laboratory standards are maintained in good working order, with valid traceability appropriate to the calibration task, and that on-site calibration and/or repairs are performed by staff in a professional manner.
Conduct regular reviews of deferred assets and determine actions necessary to resolve limiting factors locally or through the integrated network of Calibration Squadrons located throughout the Kingdom.
Monitor calibration and repair tasks as necessary, identifying and progressing technical problems that may require support from the MetCal Engineering Department.
Assist with the local administration of staff, beyond that which is centrally conducted by the MetCal Administration. This would include, but not limited to, the reporting and administration of attendance and sickness, leave planning, appearance, discipline and general welfare of subordinate staff.
Periodically, assess staff competencies with a view to recommending technical training requirements to develop or enhance staff skill levels.
Technically assist with the running of the RSAF Training Progam as detailed in RSAF 105 – series of manuals.
Ensure that the laboratory area is kept clean and tidy and that all tools and safety equipment are maintained in good working order. Actively participate in SHE activities and maintain records as required.
Deputise for Senior MetCal positions as and when required.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Will have successfully completed a formal training course directed towards the calibration, repair and alignment of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
Have practical calibration experience as a Calibration Technician, Calibration Instructor or Calibration Quality Assurance Inspector, post formal training. Ideally, the applicant will have demonstrable skills in the calibration support of a broad range of Electrical/Electronic or Physical/Dimensional TMDE.
Will be fully conversant with the requirements of RSAFI 4-7702, RSAF Metrology Program and RSAFM 105-8, On-the-Job Training. A working knowledge of RSAFM 67-1, Supply System would be advantageous. An understanding of the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 “General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories” would be advantageous.
Should be educated to at least Ordinary National Certificate level or equivalent, or have significant work experience to waiver this educational requirement.
Shall have the ability to compile, collate and prepare letters and technical reports.
Shall be familiar with, and be able to use, Microsoft Office software applications and have the aptitude for future upgrade training as necessary.
