WSP is currently searching for an accomplished and experienced professional to join our team as a Specialist - Vertical Transport.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Develop and design vertical transportation systems to meet building requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of new vertical transport systems.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate vertical transport solutions into building designs.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on elevators, escalators, and moving walkways.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring user safety.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and protocols.
- Ensure all vertical transport systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Manage relationships with external service providers and suppliers.
- Coordinate and supervise third-party maintenance and repair services.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate service contracts.
- Provide training to facility management staff on the operation and emergency procedures of vertical transport systems.
- Develop and distribute user guidelines and manuals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in elevator/escalator technology is a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the vertical transport industry.
- Proven experience in the Project management, installation, and maintenance of vertical transport systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of elevator and escalator systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and maintenance tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be available for on-call emergencies and occasional weekend or evening work.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for handling heavy equipment and tools.
