Job Description

  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Description Performance Indicators

Develop and implement EHSS strategies, policies, and programs aligned with mining industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and company objectives. As per set KPI’s of the function.

Creating and implementing EHSS policies, procedures, and programs aligned with relevant regulations and industry best practices. % of policies updated to meet latest regulations

Monitor EHSS performance indicators, metrics, and trends to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and drive EHSS performance excellence across the organization. Monthly EHSS dashboard published on time

Tracking key EHSS performance indicators, collecting data, and generating regular reports on EHSS performance metrics. Accuracy and timeliness of EHSS reports

Conduct EHSS training and awareness programs for employees/contractors to promote EHSS awareness, competency, and engagement at all levels of the organization. % of workforce trained quarterly.

  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (continued):

Description Performance Indicators

Conducting risk assessments, identifying potential hazards, and developing strategies to mitigate risks. % of identified risks mitigated within target time

Investigating EHSS incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions. % of incidents investigated within time frame

Conducting regular EHSS audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement. As per set KPI’s.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders on EHSS-related matters. Number of cross-functional EHSS initiatives supported

Identifying opportunities to improve EHSS performance and implementing strategies for continuous improvement. Number of improvement actions implemented annually

Communicate with all respective assigned mine managers/EHSS Representatives for the update of weekly/Monthly/Quarterly reports related to EHSS. Accuracy and timeliness of EHSS reports

  • COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Daily communication at all levels to coordinate and carry out the EHSS requirements

External: Outside: the Company contacts may be up to senior manager level with police, SAIS Civil Defense and other government agencies to confer and expedite the work related.

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

3-7 years of Experience in EHSS Management.

Preferably in the mining, natural resources, or heavy industry sectors. with a strong understanding of EHSS regulations, standards, and best practices.

  • Advanced understanding of layout of work area and risks
  • High performance behaviors:
  • An EHSS Specialist requires strong performance and reporting skills, including the ability to analyze data, communicate effectively, and manage projects related to safety, Security, and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in EHSS management tools, risk assessment methodologies, and auditing techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting and interacting with all levels.
  • Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • The ability to identify and resolve EHSS-related issues proactively and effectively.
  • Building relationships with employees and management to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHSS programs & management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
