Specialist, Cyber Security

Job Summary:

The Specialist, Cyber Security supports the organization’s cyber security initiatives by monitoring, analysing, and responding to security incidents. This role involves implementing Cyber security policies, managing Cyber security tools, and collaborating with IT/OT teams to safeguard the organization’s digital assets against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

1.Monitor network and system activity for potential Cyber security threats and respond to incidents in alignment with established protocols.

2.Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate Cybersecurity risks.

3.Support the configuration and management of Cyber security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and anti-virus software.

4.Assist in the development and implementation of Cyber security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

5.Investigate and analyse Cyber security incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.

6.Conduct regular Cyber security audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.

7.Participate in Cyber security awareness training sessions to educate employees on cyber security practices.

8.Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the secure design and implementation of network architectures and applications.

Education and Certification:

•Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

•Security+ (CompTIA), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) preferred. Additional certifications like CISSP or CISM are advantageous but not required at entry level.

•Foundational courses in cyber security, network security, and ethical hacking are beneficial.

Experience:

•3-5 years of experience in cyber security or IT security-related roles.
