Description

GCC Hardlines team is seeking a Saudi National Category Leader with proven experience in strategy, execution, negotiation, and team development to lead a specific set of categories for the SA and AE business. You will own the Retail P&L and will be responsible for leading and developing a high performing team, setting strategy to drive profitable growth, creating strong partnerships with vendor partners, exploring new and emerging business models, running day-to-day operations, and delivering innovation to improve the customer experience.

Hardlines is a fast growing segment of the business that is quickly evolving. The leader of this category will play a critical role as a business and people leader to build the portfolio and strategy of one of the most promising businesses for Amazon GCC. In this role you will be regularly working with senior management from numerous vendors, partners, and internal teams. This position is responsible for managing and developing a team focused on expanding selection, business growth, building vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and pricing, developing promotions, and monitoring and reacting to industry and competitive trends.

Key job responsibilities

  • Managing a full P&L, including planning, forecasting and driving growth for the category, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the business.
  • Execute a strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, marketing legal, tech).
  • Develop and lead a team of Vendor Managers
  • Lead day-to-day operational aspects of the business, including gathering and addressing customer and vendor feedback, price management, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Setting goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision.
  • Representing Amazon when meeting with senior executive teams from top vendors and building long term strategic relationships.
  • Generating and implementing big ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and scale within the category and across the Retail business.
  • Leading cross functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising and in-stock.
  • Innovating and implementing new customer and vendor programs.
  • Collaborating on Marketing and Merchandising initiatives.

A day in the life

As a member of the MENA Hardlines team, you will partner with peers in setting the business’ long range strategic plans. You will possess direct knowledge of all retail functions within the Beauty business (vendor management, marketing, operations and finance) and be capable of representing your business in high level meetings with both internal and external executives. This role will be reporting to the Director of Other Hardlines GCC.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management
  • 5+ years of with Excel experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
