Senior Tunnel Expert

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Tunnel Expert to join our consultancy team and provide technical leadership across tunnel design, construction, and supervision activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tunneling works within road, bridge, and highway projects, with hands-on experience working for reputable construction consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design review, and technical supervision of tunnel works within major infrastructure projects.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
• Provide expert guidance on tunneling methodologies, excavation techniques, ground support systems, waterproofing, ventilation, and tunnel safety systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, structural, MEP, and highway engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Review contractor submissions, method statements, technical reports, shop drawings, and material approvals.
• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and quality audits to ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend effective solutions to avoid delays and mitigate risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical expertise to support project decision-making.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in tunnel engineering within road, bridge, highway, or major civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience working with engineering consultancies on large-scale tunnel projects.
• Proven expertise in NATM, TBM, cut-and-cover, and related tunneling construction methodologies.
• Thorough knowledge of international standards and tunnel safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
