Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring that structural designs comply with Saudi local codes and regulations. This role involves evaluating design notes, software outputs, and the basis of design to secure necessary permits for various construction projects.
General Responsibilities:
- The employee should carry out his duties and responsibilities proactively, with skill care, and due diligence, in good faith and in the Company’s best interest.
- The employee should provide reasonable assistance to the PM/Direct Manager relevant to his discipline in gaining permits, licenses, and certificates from authorities.
- The Employee should proactively evaluate issues raised during the design compliance reviews relevant to his discipline and support all key stakeholders in resolving them.
- The employee should complete the compliance review reports of assigned design review projects within the specified deadline.
Specific Responsibilities:
- The employee shall have a comprehensive understanding of the Saudi Building Codes, MOMRA regulations, structural international codes and standards and other applicable standards and codes related to geotechnical, sub-structure, super-structure and façade scope of works.
- The employee responsible for reviewing and evaluating the basis of design to verify compliance with applicable local codes and international standards.
- The employee shall demonstrate expertise in the design and construction supervision of structural systems, gained through experience on large-scale and complex projects.
- The employee is required to have full knowledge and details of the scope and the requirements of the Works relevant to his discipline, for which he is required to supervise and review, ensuring that the Works schedule is adhered to and comply with the Project Documents.
- The employee shall have a comprehensive understanding of application of structural loadings as per applicable codes and standards, including MOMRA, SBC, and international guidelines.
- The employee shall perform detailed verification of design calculations for structural elements within large scale projects such as stadiums, theatres and mix used projects.
- The employee shall ensure all project deliverables comply with Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) regulations and local municipality requirements, applying Saudi Standards.
- The employee shall review, approve, in consultation with the direct manager and highlight any discrepancies, non-workable and/or missing details relevant to his discipline in a timely manner.
- The employee shall proactively resolve potential issues in quality, compliance, and design relevant.
- The employee should report to the direct manager about any gaps, inadequacies, or errors in the design documents that are non-conforming with the local and applicable international regulations.
- Prepare compliance reports, trackers, and checklists for assigned structural projects, and support the development and ongoing enhancement of internal review checklists, guidelines, and procedures.
- Support permitting processes by reviewing documentation for regulatory compliance and providing technical input as needed.
- The employee will facilitate technical meetings, design reviews, and stakeholder coordination sessions, while collaborating with design consultants and internal teams to ensure that design submissions are complete, accurate, and constructible.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or more in Structural Engineering (Preferred), or a related field. Master’s degree will be an advantage.
- At least 10-12 years of experience in structural design review.
- Excellent knowledge of engineering systems, technologies, principles, codes and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, Detail-oriented and organized with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with relevant software programs (Etabs, Saap, Safe, Prokon and Robot, MS Office, Auto CAD, Revit/BIM).
- Must be SCE Certified (Desirable Classification: Professional or Consultant).
- Must have a Valid and Transferable Iqama (if non-Saudi).
