Senior Industrialised Construction Consultant

About The Role

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Senior Industrialised Construction Consultant to join our growing Buildings team in Riyadh. The role provides the opportunity to work on an exciting range of projects in both private and public sector, including major framework & infrastructure developments in addition to one-off projects. The role will be challenging, varied and offer opportunities for skill set development and career development.

As the successful candidate, you will have a strong background and proficiency in Industrialised Construction and good technical and project management competencies. Your strong written and verbal communication of technical and commercial issues to varied technical and non-technical audiences will be key to your success in the role.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

• Helping define strategies for the implementation and adoption of industrialised construction approaches, including developing design modularisation strategies
• Collaborate with clients to understand their project or programme requirements, objectives and constraints;
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide expert advice on the application of industrialised construction, DfMA (design for manufacture and assembly) and MMC (modern methods of construction)
• Engage in the design process to ensure integration of industrialised construction principles from concept to completion
• Work with design teams to develop kits of parts, and benefits and value cases for products and constructability.
• Identify and work with manufacturing and assembly supply chains to develop innovative solutions and / or optimise Value Chains to achieve efficiency, sustainability and cost effectiveness;
• Analyse supply chain data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, optimisation and knowledge sharing.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies related to industrialised construction.
• Overseeing the production and review of design deliverables, such as drawings, calculations, basis of designs, technical/design specifications, procurement specifications, assessment reports, survey reports, tailored to required stage of project completion, covering all aspects of industrialised construction.
• Producing fee estimates for work elements
• Monitoring of the design and project management of industrialised construction elements of projects within agreed programmes
• Supporting/ mentoring/ coaching junior staff to develop their skill set.
• Working and liaising with associated engineering and management disciplines as part of delivering projects
• Management of internal and external stakeholders
• Support senior managers running the commercial and contractual side of projects.
• Supporting the pursuit of prospects
• Supporting the building of a knowledge-sharing network of practitioners and interested colleagues in the Region.
  
  

Candidate Specification

• Membership of a professional institution relevant to industrialised construction
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, construction management, or equivalent education in a related field
• Have experience of working on large building projects (SAR30m+)
• Experience at a senior level in delivery of the built environment, preferably within a consultancy business and preferably with experience in the Commercial, Hospitality, Education, Sports, Residential, and Healthcare sectors.
• Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building / infrastructure design in the Built Environment.
• Understanding of the application of LEED and Well
• Understanding of BIM and digital engineering
• Understanding of supply chain ecosystems for Industrialised construction, including key market players, logistics challenges and procurement processes.
• Enthusiasm to become involved in and support wider initiatives within Mott MacDonald;
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, with a strategic mindset to drive innovation and process improvement
• Track record of achievement and innovation, delivering complex projects or new services
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions
• Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and sub-contractors
• Management of internal stakeholders
• Management of external stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with potential and established clients.
• Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects.

• Have experience of leading on industrialised construction services and some multi-disciplinary projects.
• Have experience of mentoring and leading graduate/early career professionals.
• Have experience of managing client relationships and expectations with accountability for one or more key customer relationships and delivery of outputs.
• Working as a specialist providing high level advice to others.
• Track record of achievement and innovation, delivering complex projects or new services
• Managing and supervising the work of other professionally qualified staff.
• Well-developed professional network externally and desire to build internal networks within the organisation.
