About The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced Electronic Warfare (EW) Subject Matter Expert to serve as the customer's Assurance Lead for a critical defence project. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the complete technical oversight of the supplier’s work. You will apply rigorous systems engineering practices (e.g., ISO/IEC 15288, INCOSE) to ensure the design, implementation, and delivery of all EW systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Engineering & Lifecycle Assurance:

  • Provide expert technical oversight of the contractor's systems engineering activities, ensuring alignment with program requirements and industry best practices (e.g., INCOSE SE Handbook).
  • Act as the lead technical representative for the customer during key project gates, including Critical Design Review (CDR), Final Design Review (FDR), and the Integrated Test, Evaluation, and Acceptance Plan (ITEAP).
  • Champion the Verification and Validation (V&V) process, meticulously tracking system-level requirements to ensure they are fully met and formally accepted.
  • Manage and oversee all system integration points, proactively identifying technical risks and facilitating their resolution before they impact the project.

Technical Oversight & Quality Management:

  • Review and approve the contractor's technical documentation, including system designs, test procedures, and maintenance plans for EW systems.
  • Assess the technical maturity and performance of EW systems, including Direction Finding (DF), Special Purpose Electronic Attack (SPEA), and CREW systems, throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensure that all quality standards are maintained across the delivery, providing direct feedback and guidance to the Programme Manager on contractor performance.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Input:

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the customer, contractor, and military partners to ensure technical alignment and system interoperability.
  • Translate complex technical information and intelligence data into clear, actionable briefs for non-specialist stakeholders and leadership.
  • Contribute to high-level strategic planning, including the development of Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) plans, by providing an expert assessment of system capabilities and limitations.

Training & Coordination:

  • Oversee the contractor’s training program to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with project goals.
  • Review and approve the contractor’s EW SOPs and operational appendices to ensure they meet the customer’s operational requirements.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Proven experience in Electronic Warfare operations (military or defence sector preferred).
  • Proven track record delivering Electronic Warfare systems, including spectrum planning and management, with acceptance evidence on real programmes.
  • Strong understanding of MDMP (Military Decision Making Process) and targeting processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply intelligence data to operational planning.
  • Security clearance (e.g., UK SC or equivalent) may be required depending on role scope.
  • Demonstrable experience in a systems engineering assurance, technical oversight, or lead systems engineering role within the defence sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of systems engineering standards and lifecycles.
  • A strong background in requirements management, verification, and validation for complex electronic systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with joint or multinational EW operations.
  • Knowledge of cyber-electromagnetic integration.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
