Senior Design Manager

Job Description

WSP is looking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Manager for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh. The role involves leading the overall design management process, coordinating between design consultants, stakeholders, and the construction team, and ensuring all designs align with the project objectives, technical standards, and client requirements under WSP’s PMCM scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process across all infrastructure disciplines (e.g., roads, bridges, utilities, tunnels).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of design packages.
• Review and ensure design submissions meet project specifications, local regulations, and international standards.
• Facilitate design review workshops, value engineering sessions, and design coordination meetings.
• Manage design change control processes and ensure all design modifications are captured, reviewed, and approved.
• Interface with client representatives and local authorities to ensure alignment and approval of design deliverables.
• Monitor design progress against project schedules and flag any delays or risks.
• Support construction teams with technical queries, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Ensure quality assurance and control procedures are applied to all design documentation.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior design staff and ensure consistent application of design management processes.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s Degree is a plus).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in design management for major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure design principles, codes, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience working in a PMCM environment.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in design and project management tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, and MS Project.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Chartered status (e.g., PE, CEng) or membership in a relevant professional body.
• Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf region.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi codes and authority approval processes.
