Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Function / Department: Finance

Reporting Relationships: Financial Controller

Direct Reports: Director Finance

Role Purpose:

To oversee the costing side of the finance, costing of each service, ABC implementation

Key Responsibilities

Cost Analysis and Control

• analysis costs and expenses to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction
• Implement and monitor cost control measures and provide recommendations for cost improvement.

Activity-Based Costing (ABC) Implementation

• Oversee the implementation of Activity-Based Costing to improve cost accuracy and management
• Ensure ABC costing methodology is applied effectively across various services and departments

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare detailed financial reports, including cost analysis, profitability reports, and variance analyses
• Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs, investigating discrepancies and suggesting corrective actions

Cost Determination and Coordination

• Determine the costs associated with medical packages and services, and analysis their impact on overall financial performance
• Coordinate with the legal department to manage financial aspects of cases related to patient defaults

Project and Process Management

• Oversee the financial aspects of projects, ensuring they remain within budget and track project costs
• Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on financial status and performance

Training and Mentoring

• Train and mentor junior analysts and staff on cost analysis techniques and the use of financial software

Skills and Qualification

Essential Minimum Experience

• 5 years of industry experience with articles from a Big4 firm

Desired Experience

• Experience with Activity-Based Costing (ABC) implementation

Essential Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Desired Education

• Advanced qualifications in accounting or finance

Required Professional Registration

• CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or CA certification
