The Key Account Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key clients in the energy sector, focusing on delivering tailored solutions, driving business growth, and ensuring client satisfaction. The role will involve managing a portfolio of high-value clients, identifying new business opportunities, and acting as the primary point of contact for all client needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key accounts in the energy sector. Serve as the primary contact for high-profile clients.
  • Sales & Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the energy sector, including cross-selling and upselling additional products and services.
  • Account Growth: Drive the expansion of client accounts by developing and executing strategic account plans. Work closely with internal teams (e.g., technical, marketing, operations) to provide tailored energy solutions.
  • Contract Negotiation & Management: Lead contract discussions and negotiations with key clients, ensuring agreements align with company policies and profitability goals.
  • Market & Industry Insights: Stay updated with energy sector trends, policy changes, and market dynamics. Leverage this knowledge to advise clients and align solutions with their evolving needs.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor client account performance and service delivery. Analyze sales data and financial performance to ensure that all targets are met or exceeded.
  • Customer Support: Ensure timely resolution of client issues, coordinating with technical support and other departments to address challenges efficiently.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all interactions, transactions, and strategic plans for key accounts. Provide regular reports to management on account performance and sales forecasts.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (product development, engineering, finance) to ensure the delivery of customized energy solutions that meet client needs.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in account management, business development, or sales within the energy sector (e.g., utilities, renewable energy, oil & gas, energy services).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the energy market, including industry trends, regulatory changes, and energy-related technologies (e.g., renewable energy, energy efficiency solutions).
  • Sales & Negotiation: Proven experience in managing and growing large accounts, with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex energy solutions clearly to clients. Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to anticipate client needs and proactively provide solutions.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines and client expectations are met.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM software, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and other digital tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with energy management systems (EMS), demand-side energy management, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices and energy transition initiatives (e.g., carbon neutrality, energy storage solutions).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and policies in the energy industry (e.g., decarbonization, renewable energy credits, etc.).
