Job Overview
The Real Time Operations Centre (RTOC) is a centralized hub dedicated to supporting and optimizing all open hole wellsite operations in the oil and gas industry. As RTOC Well Engineer, your primary objective will be to proactively monitor, analyze, and intervene to prevent stuck pipe, twist-offs, and related non-productive time events during all open hole activities, including drilling, logging, formation evaluation, and tripping operations.

Job Overview
The Real Time Operations Centre (RTOC) is a centralized hub dedicated to supporting and optimizing all open hole wellsite operations in the oil and gas industry. As RTOC Well Engineer, your primary objective will be to proactively monitor, analyze, and intervene to prevent stuck pipe, twist-offs, and related non-productive time events during all open hole activities, including drilling, logging, formation evaluation, and tripping operations.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor and interpret real time data from wellsite operations, with a focus on early detection and prevention of stuck pipe, twist-offs, and other open hole risks, especially during critical activities such as tripping in and out of the hole.
- Provide immediate technical support and guidance to rig teams to mitigate wellbore instability, hole cleaning issues, and other factors leading to stuck pipe incidents during drilling, logging, tripping, and formation evaluation.
- Analyze operational parameters, MLWD, mud logging, wireline logs, and formation evaluation data to identify and address potential hazards before they escalate, especially during tripping operations.
- Recommend and implement operational adjustments to optimize wellbore conditions and minimize risk of stuck pipe and twist offs during all phases.
- Ensure compliance with best practices, standards, regulations, and company policies across all open hole activities.
- Collaborate closely with rig and office teams to facilitate rapid response and information sharing during risk events.
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and presentations on well performance, incidents, and recommended preventive actions for management and stakeholders.
- Contribute to RTOC knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives related to stuck pipe prevention, tripping best practices, and wellbore risk management.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively under pressure in a fast paced, real-time environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting.
- Deep understanding of stuck pipe mechanisms, tripping practices, hole cleaning, and wellbore stability.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Motivated, disciplined, and able to maintain a positive attitude while managing critical events.
- Strong relationship building & communication skills.
- Minimum 7 years experience in Wellsite Operations, with specific exposure to stuck pipe prevention, tripping operations, and open hole risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Petroleum Engineering or related field preferred).
- At least 2 years experience in an RTOC environment, with hands on monitoring and intervention for open hole activities.
- Previous experience as a Directional Driller or other technical wellsite role strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Torque & Drag, Hydraulics, surge & swap Modelling Software, and other risk analysis tools.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with industry standard oil and gas software.
- Excellent presentation and reporting abilities.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
