Job Description:

The Road and Soil Laboratory Operations Manager is a senior-management position responsible for the strategic leadership, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement of laboratory functions related to road and soil analysis. This role demands an expert in both technical laboratory practices and management principles, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in laboratory operations management, specifically in road and soil testing
  • Proven track record of managing large, multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic laboratory setting, including direct leadership of technical staff
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements specific to soil and road analysis
  • Strong project management skills with experience in overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and timeline management for multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and optimize laboratory processes, procedures, and quality assurance protocols to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Expertise in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to present findings clearly to different stakeholders including regulatory bodies and clients
  • Advanced understanding of modern laboratory technologies, equipment, and methodologies utilized in soil and road testing
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs and workshops to improve team competencies and enhance technical skills
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and their application in laboratory operations and infrastructure projects
  • Ability to forge strategic partnerships with external agencies, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to enhance the laboratory's reputation and innovation capacity

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Road and Soil Laboratory, ensuring optimal workflow, staffing, and resource distribution.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance laboratory capabilities and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead the budgeting and financial management process for laboratory operations, ensuring strategic allocation of resources while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of safety and compliance by implementing rigorous safety protocols and regularly training staff on best practices.
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement processes by analyzing laboratory performance metrics and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies to advocate for the laboratory’s objectives and services.
  • Guide and mentor laboratory staff through performance evaluations, addressing development needs, and creating opportunities for professional growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and methodologies relevant to soil and road analysis, integrating innovative practices into the laboratory.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support project delivery, providing timely and accurate analytical results to support infrastructure decision-making.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and industry meetings to showcase the laboratory’s capabilities and contribute to the broader scientific community.
