Resident Engineer
WSP
The Resident Engineer oversees all on-site engineering activities to ensure the successful execution of the JSW project in alignment with approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The role involves leading multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, resolving technical issues, and ensuring timely project delivery.
1. Project Supervision & Technical Oversight
Lead, supervise, and monitor all civil/structural (and relevant discipline) works in accordance with approved drawings and project specifications.
Ensure construction activities comply with JSW project standards, local regulations, and international engineering codes.
Conduct daily site inspections and issue site instructions when required.
2. Contractor Coordination
Oversee contractors’ operations, reviewing work methods, progress, manpower, and resource allocation.
Ensure adherence to the project schedule and assist in resolving delays or bottlenecks.
Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
3. Quality Assurance & Control
Implement QA/QC procedures throughout construction phases.
Verify that materials, equipment, and installation methods meet the project’s quality requirements.
Conduct inspections, tests, and audits while maintaining comprehensive documentation.
4. Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety policies in line with project HSE standards.
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings.
Ensure the contractor maintains a safe working environment and addresses non-compliance promptly.
5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Maintain continuous communication with the Project Manager, client representatives, and consultants.
Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly progress reports, technical logs, and site correspondence.
Attend coordination meetings and provide engineering input for design or site-related issues.
6. Problem-Solving & Technical Support
Provide solutions to design conflicts, site constraints, and unforeseen construction conditions.
Recommend technical improvements to enhance efficiency and avoid rework.
Support the review of change orders, claims, and variation requests.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant engineering discipline).
15+ years of experience in site supervision and project execution, preferably within Saudi Arabia.
Experience with industrial, steel, or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of engineering standards, QA/QC systems, and HSE requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Familiarity with project management tools and engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Office, etc.).
