As a result, we are currently looking for a Regional Practice Lead - Transport Advisory and Planning Lead to join our team. This position is within our Planning, Design and Engineering business to lead our 40+ team members in the region. The team’s remit covers all aspects of transport planning from transport advisory in all areas, strategic transport planning, policy and regulations, through to a key strength area around development impact assessment and traffic engineering.

The role will require coordinated working with other parts of the AtkinsRealis Middle East business.


  • 15+ years post-graduate experience in transport planning, transport advisory and future mobility planning and design.

  • Degree in transport related subject, numeric subject or equivalent professional qualification

  • Proven track record in the delivery of transport advisory, transport planning, traffic engineering, and transport development planning studies to a high standard

  • Proven track record of management and leadership of large teams and major projects.

  • Proven track record of leading interface with clients, market and local authorities

  • Possess working knowledge of appropriate analytical and design aids (computer software) with respect to reliability and accuracy of data input and analysis.

  • Excellent report writing and presentational skills.

  • Confident and professional manner and communication style, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

  • Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office and specialist software)

  • Technical background in policy and regulations, transport modelling and analytics, demand modelling and analysis.

  • Arabic speaker desirable but not essential

  • Experience of transport advisory in cities and communities levels

  • Experience of strategic transport projects as well as a Traffic Impact Studies.

  • Experience in managing teams, technical excellence and team growth.

  • Working experience on project commercials, project finance and control.

  • Previous experience in the region highly desirable.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the profit and loss sheet for a transport business, lead and participate in business development, client care, bidding, contract negotiations and market strategies. The candidate will manage and develop transport team and its growth and its resources planning.

The successful candidate would be expected to lead and support a range of transport advisory and planning studies both on their own and for other staff working within a team, reporting to the Regional Director for Land Development and market sector lead. You will also be expected to manage and perform the following duties:

  • Lead a team of transport consultants, planners and engineers, responsible for the development of staff growth, career planning and wellbeing.

  • Prepare studies, reports, presentations, designs, calculations, drawings, programmes for specific jobs.

  • Check and approve reports, studies, presentation, drawings, calculations or output from analytical programs.

  • Develop reports and presentation and participate in particular investigations as required.

  • Evaluate transport planning issues and problems, consulting with wider teams as necessary.

  • Supervise the execution of transport analysis using appropriate design aids (for example transport assignment software, appraisal tools, Microsoft Office packages) with particular attention to accuracy and reliability to data input and analysis.

  • Ensure tasks are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets.

  • Manage AtkinsRéalis projects as project director or project manager

  • Liaise with other disciplines and clients as required on technical aspects.

  • Presents AtkinsRéalis in conferences, workshops and client meetings.

  • Keep up to date with current methods and the latest research in transport advisory and planningLead the interface and management of resources of AtkinsRéalis Global Technical Centers in India and other countries.

  • Lead and participate in global technical networks.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to deliver and lead projects in the space of future mobility, sustainable design and human centric planning and design for our cities and communities.
