As Gehl’s team member in Madinah, you will take part in delivering visionary urban development projects that will shape the city’s growth, enhance public spaces, and foster an efficient, sustainable transportation network.
You will be a key figure in ensuring timely project management in alignment with the Copenhagen based Senior Project Manager and Project Director, and act as a bridge between the client in Madinah and the Gehl team in Copenhagen.
This role requires a structured workflow and an Arabic speaking professional with a good understanding of urban development in the region, insights into sustainable design practices, good social skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
We offer a project contract for 6 months with a possibility for extension (1 February - 1 August 2025), it can be full time or part-time position depending on the right applicant.
Key Responsibilities
Lead
- Local Collaboration: This role will be based in Madinah as Gehl’s representative on the ground, while the rest of the project team will work from Copenhagen. The right applicant must be an excellent communicator and collaborative team player, effectively coordinating with the client in Madinah and remotely with the Copenhagen team fostering a positive working dynamic. The Copenhagen team will travel to Madinah monthly for workshops, client meetings, and critical design decisions, making the role vital for continuous on-site presence, coordination and support as well as planning of visits and ongoing client relationship management.
- Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Act as a key point of contact for ongoing coordination and collaboration at project level with the client, fostering a positive and productive working relationship. Ensure timely communication, ensure following through on action items, and proactively follow up to maintain momentum on all project deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement: In close collaboration with the client, participate in ongoing collaboration with identified relevant local authorities, government bodies, community leaders, and any related subconsultants to gain support, manage expectations, and incorporate feedback.
- Support Gehl’s Project Director: Gehl’s Project Director holds the high level communication with the client. Your role is to support the Project Director in executing the project, co-facilitate meetings and to ensure a strong synergy with needs locally and with the client's expectations. You will work closely with the Project Director who will give you guidance and plan your tasks.
Support
- Project Development: Support the creation and execution of comprehensive urban planning strategies aligned with Madinah's vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.
- Support the design and planning of public spaces that enhance livability, support community engagement, and reflect the cultural heritage of Madinah. Support initiatives to create integrated, accessible, and sustainable transportation systems, focusing on pedestrian-friendly and transit-oriented solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in sustainable urbanism, including minimum 1 year in KSA
- Arabic speaking and writing skills are a must
- Experienced project manager with a portfolio of complex urban development projects and substantial experience in a client facing role
- Strong understanding of the cultural, environmental, and general regulatory context of Saudi Arabia
