As a Project Controls Manager specializing in wind, solar, or nuclear projects, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and progress monitoring aspects of complex engineering projects in the renewable energy or nuclear power generation sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project controls strategies, systems, and procedures tailored to the unique requirements of wind, solar, or nuclear projects, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational objectives.
- Lead the planning and scheduling activities for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, utilizing project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) to create comprehensive project schedules and resource plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, and other stakeholders to establish project baselines, milestones, and performance metrics, facilitating effective project execution and decision-making.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to schedule delays, cost overruns, resource constraints, and technical challenges specific to renewable energy or nuclear projects.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for project activities, incorporating input from various disciplines, subcontractors, and vendors, and monitoring project expenditures against approved budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement robust change management processes to track scope changes, variations, and contract modifications, assessing their impact on project schedules, costs, and deliverables, and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, performance indicators, and key performance metrics (KPIs), analyzing trends, variances, and deviations from plan, and providing regular reports and updates to project teams and senior management.
- Lead project controls meetings, workshops, and reviews to discuss project status, identify issues, and develop action plans to address challenges and optimize project performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP, PSP) are advantageous.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in project controls management, with a focus on wind, solar, or nuclear projects in the energy sector.
- Expertise in project management methodologies, scheduling techniques, cost control principles, and risk management practices, with proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Strong understanding of renewable energy or nuclear project lifecycle phases, regulatory requirements, and industry standards governing project execution, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data, identify trends, and formulate actionable recommendations to optimize project performance and mitigate risks.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts and project updates to diverse stakeholders, including project teams, clients, and senior management.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and quality in project controls deliverables, documentation, and reporting, particularly in compliance-driven environments like nuclear power plants.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in leading cross-functional project teams, facilitating collaboration, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in project controls processes and systems.
