Overview
A Principal Consultant will work directly with Esri Cross Division Leadership to define the strategy and goals for a specified Sectors and/or Industries. A Principal Consultant will lead and empower other consultants to enable customer success by providing vision and leadership through the hands-on enablement of ArcGIS to support critical customer workflows and missions. In addition, a Principal Consultant will participate in, support and be a leader within the Esri communities with a highly complex scope of risk management, business, and technology efforts with a focus on expanding the role of GIS and pathways for further growth of Esri employees and customers.

Responsibilities
- Lead high-stake, large, and complex Professional Services engagements, projects, and programs to implement ArcGIS effectively across a range of time scales
- Partner with Professional Services leadership, Business Development staff, and other Esri divisions to inspire Sector and Industry leadership to support the growth of ArcGIS into new markets and industries
- Lead and empower others in the scoping, management, and delivery of successful and impactful proposals and projects
- Provide project engagement support through all levels of management, Technical Consulting engagement supports, to include executive consulting, relationship management, and conceptual architecture
- Create and foster internal collaboration to focus on expanding the role of GIS and pathways for further growth of Esri employees and customers
- Work to mitigate challenges through proper escalation and other protocols to achieve project and program completion
- Provide vision and thought leadership regarding consulting, risk management, project management, and technology best practices to advise strategic and high-risk Esri customers on helping them make better decision across all time scales
- Discover and showcase the value of location within customer workflows and drive substantial return on their investment in Esri`s products and services
- Lead by creating innovative and outstanding proposals and win work with strategic customers in new areas of GIS use
- Act as a resource for colleagues with lesser experience and other staff
- As a lead, empower the team by strategically leading all stages of the engagement or project through mentoring, active coaching, reviewing, and aligning of budgets and portfolios, risk management and personnel management efforts
- 12+ years of professional experience in GIS project management and/or GIS consultancy
- Proven experience in engaging, creating, designing, and optimizing enterprise GIS solutions/systems that leverage Esri software products
- Demonstrated proficiency in evaluating, understanding, and translating high-level customer`s business goals, objectives, and strategies into technical plans and solutions using Esri products
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to deliver highly complex, high-risk projects and engagements on time and within budgets
- Strong proficiency in preparing innovative and impactful proposals, including preparing executive summaries, solution definition, scope of services, staffing, and pricing
- Proven ability to develop and create project and program designs, work plans, project and program budgets, and project and program timelines/schedules
- Demonstrated experience in strategically contributing to goal and strategy definition and planning with Sr. Leadership, Executives, and Division Leadership
- Ability to engage, collaborate, facilitate, lead, and partner with customers, internal and external teams, and stakeholders
- Professional experience winning new work in collaboration with specified Sector and/or Industry Sales and Business Development teams
- Experience in leading and empowering team activities to include finances, budgets, personnel, and risk management
- Bachelor`s Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related STEM field
- Experience with ArcGIS, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analysis, or similar geospatial technology
- Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented and cloud computing architecture
- Understanding of IT integration concepts such as databases, web services, webhooks, mobile device configurations, web browsers, IT system architecture concepts
- Master`s Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related STEM field
