About the Job:
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Power System Operation Studies Engineer to join our expert engineering team. This role involves conducting operational planning, dynamic and steady-state simulations, and system performance assessments to ensure grid stability and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, hands-on software experience, and a collaborative mindset to support major transmission and distribution (T&D) projects.
Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:- Conduct steady-state, dynamic, and transient simulations using tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
- Perform operational studies including contingency (N-1/N-2) analysis, voltage stability, frequency response, and load margin assessments.
- Develop accurate network models and simulate operational scenarios based on real-time data and historical trends.
- Coordinate with planning, protection, and control teams to ensure operational alignment and system robustness.
- Analyze the integration impact of renewable energy sources and propose mitigation strategies.
- Prepare clear, detailed study reports and present technical findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with international and regional standards including IEC, IEEE, GCCIA, and national grid codes.
- Support grid code compliance reviews and outage coordination studies as part of operational readiness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with focus on Power Systems or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power system studies, simulation, or operational planning.
- Solid understanding of power flow, dynamic response, grid stability, and contingency planning.
- Proficiency with simulation and analysis tools: PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, ETAP.
- Familiarity with EMS/SCADA systems and operational data handling is a plus.
- Strong communication and reporting skills, with attention to detail and system-wide impact.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical teams.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
- Hands-on experience with PSS/E or DIgSILENT for stability and load flow analysis .
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration and HVDC systems is preferred .
- Experience working in the Middle East or with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) utilities is a plus.
- Proficiency in PSS/E and DIgSILENT for dynamic and steady-state simulations .
- Basic understanding of SCADA, PMU data analysis, and scripting (Python/MATLAB) .
- Knowledge of the Saudi Grid Code, NERC, and other regulatory standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities.
