Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surveyor to join our Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) team and support utility diversion projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys, preparing accurate maps, and providing essential data to assist in the planning, design, and execution of utility relocation and protection activities. This role requires strong technical expertise, field experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surveyor to join our Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) team and support utility diversion projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys, preparing accurate maps, and providing essential data to assist in the planning, design, and execution of utility relocation and protection activities. This role requires strong technical expertise, field experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys to locate, map, and document existing utility infrastructure, including underground and overhead utilities.
- Prepare topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys to support utility diversion and construction activities.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and 3D laser scanners to collect accurate data.
- Provide survey data to assist in the planning and design of utility relocation and protection activities.
- Identify potential conflicts between existing utilities and proposed construction plans, and provide accurate survey data to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, utility providers, and contractors to ensure survey data meets project requirements.
- Process and analyze survey data using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GIS platforms.
- Maintain accurate records of survey data, utility locations, and as-built documentation.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings for project stakeholders.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as project-specific requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks to verify the accuracy and reliability of survey data.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and utility providers to schedule and execute survey activities.
- Work closely with construction teams to provide real-time survey support during utility relocation and construction phases.
- Address technical challenges in the field, such as access restrictions, utility conflicts, or data discrepancies.
- Develop innovative solutions to overcome surveying challenges and ensure timely delivery of results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in surveying, with a focus on utility-related projects preferred.
- Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS) and surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations, 3D scanners).
- Strong knowledge of utility systems, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and construction processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
