Job Title: Network Engineer

Department: Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Reports To: ICT Manager

Role Purpose:

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and securing the hospital’s complex network infrastructure. This role plays a key part in ensuring uninterrupted connectivity, optimal network performance, and adherence to cybersecurity standards. The position supports daily ICT operations, proactively prevents incidents, and ensures network availability across all hospital services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Design and Maintenance

• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (routers, switches, and firewalls).

• Conduct performance monitoring and capacity planning to ensure optimal network health.

• Ensure system redundancy and high availability.

2. Network Security and Access Management

• Implement and maintain firewalls and identity management tools (e.g., Cisco ISE, FortiNAC).

• Monitor security logs and address vulnerabilities and threats using tools like Syslog and Stealthwatch.

• Maintain VPNs and secure tunnels for branch access and ISP coordination.

3. Troubleshooting and Escalation

• Proactively identify, isolate, and resolve network issues with minimal disruption.

• Escalate unresolved issues to vendors or senior ICT specialists with clear documentation.

• Support 24/7 hospital operations by participating in on-call rotations.

4. Documentation and Compliance

• Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, configuration records, and SOPs.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and hospital information security policies.

• Perform regular audits to validate network integrity and performance.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or 3-Year Diploma in Computer Engineering or a related ICT field.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in enterprise-level network support and operations.

• Registration with SEC (for Saudis); attested certification (for non-Saudis).

Desired Experience and Certifications:

• Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).

• Familiarity with IT Service Management systems (e.g., Cherwell).

• ITIL v3 Foundation certified preferred.

• Experience in healthcare or hospital network environments is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Advanced: Network segmentation (VLAN, DMZ), firewall policies, identity management systems.

• Intermediate: IP Telephony (Avaya), DHCP, VMware networking.

• Proficient in documenting and maintaining network configuration standards.
