Job Description:
The Traffic Impact Study Review Engineer/Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive analysis and validation of traffic impact studies associated with developmental and urban projects to ensure adherence to the Municipality’s technical standards and established requirements. In this mid-career role, the incumbent will leverage their expertise to evaluate traffic data accuracy, confirm compliance with safety and design standards, and ensure integration with future urban transport frameworks. This position emphasizes enhancing traffic flow efficiency, improving road user safety, and mitigating any adverse impacts on traffic infrastructure through meticulous review processes, effective coordination with various stakeholders, and informed decision support.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation and Traffic Planning, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in traffic impact studies or transportation planning, showcasing a deep understanding of traffic management systems.
- Valid membership in the Saudi Council of Engineers, demonstrating commitment to professional standards in engineering.
- Completion of relevant training courses or holding specialized certifications in traffic engineering or transportation planning, reflecting ongoing professional development.
- Proven experience in using advanced traffic simulation and modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA) with an emphasis on accuracy and reliability.
- Skilled in reviewing and interpreting traffic data such as flow rates, traffic volumes, and peak hour conditions for comprehensive analyses.
- Strong knowledge of road and intersection design standards as per the Saudi Road Design Code and Traffic Regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze and assess traffic impact studies and reports submitted by consulting firms and developers, ensuring completeness and technical integrity.
- Verify the precision of traffic data utilized in studies, focusing particularly on flow rates, traffic volumes, and peak hours.
- Conduct thorough reviews of traffic models and simulations to validate the accuracy and reliability of projected traffic conditions.
- Ensure all studies are compliant with the Traffic Impact Study Preparation Guidelines and the technical requirements designated by the Municipality.
- Confirm that studies meet traffic safety requirements and adhere to design standards for intersections, entrances, and exits.
- Review study recommendations to ensure alignment with the city’s long-term transportation and traffic plans.
- Collaborate with relevant Municipality departments (Urban Planning, Roads, Traffic Safety) to review outcomes of traffic studies, fostering a multidisciplinary approach.
- Maintain effective communication with engineering and consulting firms to clarify technical comments and complete study requirements.
- Participate in technical meetings to explore and propose viable solutions for traffic impact mitigation.
- Prepare and present internal technical reports that summarize findings and recommendations, supporting effective decision-making regarding project approvals or necessary modifications.
- Contribute to the establishment of binding technical conditions for development projects, ensuring all potential traffic impacts are adequately mitigated.
- Monitor the implementation of suggested traffic recommendations post-project approval, analyzing the fidelity to initial proposals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented traffic solutions against anticipated outcomes, providing feedback for future study enhancements.
