Job description:

Job Purpose

The MEP QA/QC Engineer responsible for ensuring that all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems within the construction project are installed and delivered to the highest quality standards in compliance with project specifications, industry codes, and contractual requirements. The role includes on-site inspections, quality control checks, and interfacing with subcontractors, consultants, and clients to maintain quality compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Accountability Areas

Quality Control & Inspections

  • Conduct quality checks for all MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV).

  • Ensure work aligns with approved drawings and standards.

  • Raise IRs and conduct joint inspections.

  • Document non-conformances and follow up with corrective actions.

2. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain QA/QC records: inspection reports, test results, method statements, etc.

  • Update ITPs and logs (IRs, NCRs, SORs).

  • Assist in compiling quality reports for QHSE Manager and client.

3. Material & Method Statement Review

  • Verify materials comply with approvals and specs.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and installation.

  • Review and enforce method statements and ITPs.

4. Testing & Commissioning Support

  • Supervise MEP system testing and commissioning.

  • Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors.

  • Validate and verify test results.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with contractors and consultants to ensure QA/QC compliance.

  • Attend QA/QC meetings and audits.

  • Resolve QA/QC issues before handover.

  • Support site teams with technical guidance.

6. Project Handover

  • Assist in preparing closeout documents: As-Builts, O&M manuals, test records.

  • Ensure punch list items are completed.

  • Support final handover of MEP systems.

Role Accountability

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA/QC role specific to MEP in large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., SBC, ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, IPC, BS, ISO).
  • Experience with MEP inspection procedures, testing protocols, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with construction QA/QC management software (e.g., Aconex, BIM 360, Procore) is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Good leadership and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of BIM/Revit is a bonus.

Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory):

  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor Certification
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • OSHA/NEBOSH (for safety awareness)
  • MEP Commissioning Certification (a plus)
