  • In-market marketing & brand strategy.
  • Co-develop (with the Licensed Markets’ (LM) marketing team) and execute the in-market marketing and brand plan, which is aligned to the long-term business strategy and the LM marketing and brand plan;
  • Set actionable strategic priorities for marketing that are aligned to the business objectives and ensure successful implementation and measurement thereof;
  • Provide a plan to (and seek approval from) the LM marketing team, for each marketing activity which details: deliverables, timeframe, budget. This must be approved by the Licensed Markets’ marketing team before being approved by the Head of Country;
  • Formulate (with the LM marketing team) the innovation roadmap and project management of all new product development initiatives. This includes implementation and alignment with the promotional calendar, formulating the business and commercial case and the post measurement of all initiatives;
  • Ensure the marketing strategy is executed within the confines of local market religious and regulatory protocols;
  • Project manage product launches aligned to the marketing and brand strategy;
  • Project manage proposed pricing strategies by assisting the in-market team with context curation; working with the LM marketing team to implement price changes across all platforms.
  • Advertising, promotions & PR.
  • Drive the effectiveness and consistency of all advertising, promotional & PR initiatives within the market and ensure alignment to the Nando’s brand & commnunications guidelines, strategy & principles;
  • Use the Nando’s LM Digital tools to curate marketing intelligence and consumer insight for input into decision making;
  • Use the Nando’s LM Digital and Customer Care tools to monitor and respond to consumer and media feedback in order to build strong, beneficial relationships with these audiences.
  • Business and marketing intelligence and consumer insights.
  • Continuous reporting and report writing on key findings on core business and marketing initiatives, progress and overall business performance across various stakeholder groups;
  • Monitor and measure brand equity and strength to be able to re-evaluate;
  • Proactively providing data and information that leads to insights regarding customer buying behaviours, macro market trends and performance, and competitors that support business decision making.
  • Casa marketing support.
  • Provide Casas with marketing support which includes, but is not limited to: Local Restaurant Marketing (LRM); Casa revamps, relocations and new Casa openings and brand touchpoints;
  • Develop, implement and monitor marketing plans for non-performing Casas;
  • Regularly visit Casas to ensure that all in-Casa marketing activity is aligned to the marketing strategy and brand plan, and compliant with Nando’s brand and visual identity guidelines and principles;
  • Conduct brand touch point reviews for each Casa on a bi-annual basis to ensure the maintenance of brand standards;
  • Inspire Patrãos to believe in Marketing and assist in executing projects as requested.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate the brand strategy with the rest of the in-market central support team in such a way that engages and inspires all fellow Nandocas to bring this strategy to life within their functional area;
  • Liaise with Area Managers to advise on marketing activities and gather input relating to customer trends;
  • Liaise with Procurement to optimise regional promotional planning through efficient scenario planning and forecasting of volumes and gross profit;
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly management meetings and proactively contribute to the overall strategic plan and functioning of the business especially in relation to Marketing;
  • Actively participate in strategic planning sessions; positively support the implementation of all management decisions;
  • Partner and collaborate with outside agencies and vendors (events management, web sites, advertising) to ensure that initiatives meet expectations.
  • Manage the Marketing team so that they are engaged and achieve their work objectives.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary human resources and is structured so that it can meet its business objectives;
  • Implement interventions to address issues raised in the annual climate survey;
  • Ensure employees have the necessary tools and resources to meet their work objectives;
  • Ensure employees have job descriptions and a clear understanding of performance standards;
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports every week;
  • Ensure outstanding performance is rewarded;
  • Manage poor performance;
  • Ensure development opportunities are made available to employees during the year;
  • Manage labour relations issues as required.
  • Participate as an active member of the management team to facilitate teamwork in achieving overall business goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly management meetings;
  • Execute all marketing decisions emanating from these meetings;
  • Proactively contribute to the overall strategic plan and functioning of the business especially in relation to marketing;
  • Actively participate in strategic planning sessions;
  • Positively support the implementation of all management decisions.

Qualifications

Unless the applicant can demonstrate that s/he has developed the necessary competencies through experience, a Marketing related degree is required.

Experience

5+ years’ experience in a marketing / brand management role, either in a food service or hospitality environment; 2+ years’ experience in a senior marketing role. This experience must include the development and implementation of marketing strategies, budgets and plans.

Knowledge

Marketing principles and concepts; brand management; franchise management; consumer trends; operations management; marketing communications; channel management; marketing research; product display; marketing on the internet.

Skills

Computer literacy

This is about being able to use computers, the internet and related technology at work. It includes the use of both basic hardware and software. It is about being able to access and input information, solve and avoid problems, keep information organized and communicate effectively with others inside and outside of Nando's.

Budgeting

This is about understanding the budgeting process and being able to monitor costs / revenue against a budget. E.g. Can anticipate the effects of other financial processes on their own budgeting procedure; able to work within budgetary constraints and reallocate resources where required.

Negotiation skills

This is about the ability to gain agreement between two or more parties with differing interests regarding issues affecting self and / or the organisation.

Project management skills

This is the ability to lead teams, initiate and design projects and take full responsibility for the execution and success of a major project. E.g. Initiates projects, can evaluate alternative plans, can determine the steps needed to reach desired objectives.

Spoken and written English

This is about being able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. It involves expressing thoughts, ideas and comments clearly either using speech in individual or group situations, or in writing using correct and appropriate grammar, organisation and structure so that the message is clearly understood by the recipient/s. It includes gaining support for ideas.
