Manager, Open Pit Engineering for Study

The primary role of Manager, Open Pit Engineering For Study is responsible to coordinating and support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 2, 3 and 4 for Open Pit Mines Studies in order to optimize the development of Ma’aden Base Metals and New Mineral (MBMNM) deposit and support MBMNM Strategy and Growth to produce 1.6 Mozs Gold in 2035.
The Manager, Open Pit Engineering For Study will apply knowledge, skills and experience to effectively coordinate and support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 2, 3 and 4 for Open Pit Mines Studies. These studies will comprise multidiscipline teams (including consultant and contractor) evaluating all aspects including geology, geotechnical, hydrogeology, mine planning, metallurgy, process, infrastructure and ES&G and as such it is imperative that the Manager, Open Pit Engineering For Study engages all necessary stakeholders to assess the challenges associated with the study, construction and operation stages of the project cycle in the selection, engineering and scheduling of the preferred project option.
With experience preferably gained at operational sites and in project roles, this role will be expected to coordinate multi-discipline teams of both internal SME’s and consultants whilst effectively managing interaction with the Technical Services & Continuous Improvement, Strategy & Business Development, Mineral Resources Management, Exploration & Resource Development, Global Projects, stakeholders and regulators to deliver successful study outcomes. The role will interact closely with Consultant, Contractor, MBMNM and corporate management teams.
The role performs sophisticated engineering duties to support MBMNM Stage Gate 2, 3 and 4 for Open Pit Mines Studies. It encompasses a range of engineering and technical activities, involving some or all of the steps from identifying substantial technical problems and opportunities; through devising engineering approaches, processes and plans to resolve them; to researching, rationalizing, acquiring and assembling the resources to implement the plans.
Key Accountabilities

As Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Open Pit Mine Engineering and support Strategy and Business Development on development of Stage Gate 2, 3 and 4 for Open Pit Mines Studies .
Develop and optimise project opportunities in line with the Ma’aden Stage Gate System delivering exceptional value to stakeholders.
Coordination with internal SME and consultant resources;
Coordinate with consultant on trade off studies for the projects
Coordinate with Strategy and Business Development to effectively deliver study outcomes within the schedule and budget constraint
Ensure compliance to Ma’aden procedures and processes.
Coordinate with Strategy and Business Development to develop Ma’aden Stage Gate deliverables for the study stages.
Provide regular updates to the Director, Open Pit Mine Engineering for the project progress.
Attend weekly meeting for the Stage Gate 2, 3 and 4 for Open Pit Mines Studies.
Proactive in development and optimize of Open Pit Mines Studies to get the best profit margin for BMNM.
Ensure risk and opportunity identification is undertaken during the design phases, risk and opportunity register is maintained and control closeout actions have been undertaken and incorporated into the design or other controls.
Support Manager, Open Pit Mine Engineering For Operations in order to optimize the multi-mine MBMNM assets that are already operating spread across Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mentors other engineers and reviewing planning and design proposals.
Ensuring compliance with company and site-specific policies, standards, procedures, and objectives and recommend new policies or procedures, if necessary.
Support in interpretation of the Ma'aden standards and support affiliates in the development and improvement of local systems and support the Corporate Subject Matter Expert team
Perform all additional duties assigned by superiors.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, sophisticated degree in Mine Engineering is a plus.
- Registered, or eligible to register in Recognized Professional Organization, as a Competent Person to follow 2012 JORC A minimum 12 years of experience in mine engineering, operations, projects, and studies. Experience in gold and base metal extraction processes is a plus

Skills:
- Open pit Mine Planning, Ore Reserve, Studies, Project, Permitting, Technologies, and Business Excellence Planning process in large organizations, ideally in Open Pit Mine Engineering area
- Considerable experience in mine planning, optimization, operations, projects, studies and strategic planning in large and diversified mine sites, with experience in conventional hard rock Gold / Copper-Gold operations is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and impact in a dynamic, multitasking environment with competing priorities and high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and share standard methodologies across MBMNM.
- Critical work values include flexibility and adaptability, collaboration with others and the ability to plan and deliver work results with quality, accuracy, punctuality and reliability
- Ability to build and maintain a strong communications network with Mine Engineering peers, Technical Services & Continuous Improvement, Project/Study, Operation, Consultants, and others relevant parties.
- Experience in operations with sophisticated multi mine, multi process situations preferable and highly talented knowledge of mine methods, mine design, production scheduling (strategic and tactical), equipment selection, projects, studies, reserve estimation, continuous improvement and others relevant task.
- High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimal techniques and cash flow analysis and extensive experience with mine design and scheduling packages. Experience in MineSight, Geovia Whittle, Surpac, and Minesched, is a plus;
- Detailed knowledge of unit costing for resource and reserve analysis and experienced in financial analysis and models. Experience with Xeras cost estimating is a plus.
- Strong problem solving and 3D visualization skills.
- Relevant certificates of competency – certification as Professional Engineer, and/or Qualified-Competent Person status.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) required
