Project Overview:
Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
We are currently considering candidates with aviation experience in the logistics and transportation department, or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh should it be awarded to Bechtel. This posting serves as an expression of interest only.
Job Summary:
In this role, the Transport and Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing all project construction site logistics and traffic management activities. This includes coordinating and integrating logistics plans, updating and issuing site-wide logistics plans as needed, and analyzing local and regional conditions to determine supply and demand requirements based on project schedules, asset mixes, and resource needs. You will proactively identify and recommend solutions for potential logistical challenges and mitigate the risks minimizing commercial impacts to the project.
Furthermore, you will lead and develop, review, and continuously update traffic and construction access management plans. In collaboration with procurement and project stakeholders, you will develop and implement integrated logistics plans for the entire project, encompassing laydown areas, storage, site access and haul routes, material sourcing and disposal, fabrication yards, personnel access, parking, and all necessary support facilities to ensure successful project execution.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises team of Site Logistics Engineers, Site Logistics Representatives and Data analysts
- Responsible for planning and compliance monitoring of logistics operations in the context of the judicious objectives for the assigned project(s), including movements of construction materials, fuels, equipment, people, waste
- Collaborates across PMC’s and geographic regions on the project and to optimize logistics service provisions and facilities
- Understands the contract and project wide requirements for logistics within the construction contracts and updates RFP and Employer Requirements to consider logistic requirements and interface.
- Develop project execution strategy for construction indirects and logistics such as job-hour and craft requirements, temporary water and power demand, truck movements, etc.
- Develops Scope of Work, budget, contract packaging and other commercial documents required to implement logistics provisions via service providers or contractors.
- Develops a strategy for access gate locations, haul roads and personal movement across contracts.
- Configuration management of logistics facilities and services, taking actions where existing plans are found to be ineffective or in need of improvement
- Helps the Project Management Team to achieve their construction delivery and health, safety and environmental/sustainability objectives through the sound implementation of logistics planning
- Provides reports and advertises presentations to management relating to existing, emerging or changing logistics planning.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent)
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in similar logistics planning and management role, preferably with Contractor or PMC Experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience of construction and project logistics on large urban infrastructure projects or large civil engineering projects is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred Experience of working and living in camp locations.
