Legal Director
Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA)
Job Objective
Provide high quality legal advisory services, organize and complete legal activities, create legal documents, and advise JCSA on relevant legal issues to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations.
Organizational Strategy
Develop operational plans and manage the implementation of activities.
Continuously monitor the performance of team members to ensure performance deviations are identified in a timely manner, and actions are implemented to meet performance targets.
Operational
- Work hand in hand with all business functions to ensure that all activities and operations are in full compliance with the laws and regulations.
- Manage complex legal projects that span legal; business and functional boundaries (e.g. cross-geographies, subject matter areas, jurisdictions, organizations and business models).
- Manage the analysis of legal issues, at the local, regional and international level, that are associated with JCSA’s activities, ongoing operations, and strategic initiatives.
- Work hand in hand with Partnerships to draft partnerships agreements, and memorandums of understanding (MoUs).
- Work hand in hand with Procurement to draft third parties procurement contracts.
- Provide the required legal advice to all JCSA functions, through the timely review of contracts, agreements, legal documents and bids from a legal perspective.
- Provide legal assistance when dealing with particular legal tasks, litigations, contracts, dispute resolutions and guide JCSA to take appropriate action and decisions.
- Draw up formalities regarding the settlement of disputes and monitor implementation of legal clauses.
- Analyze JCSA policies and practices to ensure proper adherence to governance, laws and regulations.
- Apply knowledge to resolve any internal or external conflict and ensure compliance accordingly.
- Keep up to date with the latest laws and regulations to ensure JCSA’s full compliance.
- Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
Develop the function’s systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
Ensure team members’ compliance and adherence with all policies, processes, standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Management Reporting
● Report to the CEO on the progress of activities against the annual business plans, opportunities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to make an informed decision.
● Propose recommendations/alternatives basis analysis to senior-level management and provide direction on areas needing additional research or improvement.
People Supervision
● Work hand in hand with the direct reports to develop their personal development plans.
● Conduct and review performance appraisals for direct reports to identify areas of development and areas of strength.
● Identify the workforce, recruitment, training and development needs to ensure the availability and readiness of competent, qualified and highly motivated staff.
● Contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of JCSA.
● Help in building a learning organization that will continue to grow, flourish and enhance the skills and abilities of employees.
Create an environment that facilitates healthy relationships among all team members.
Other Related Assignments
● Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner and uphold and adhere to JCSA’s policies and procedures.
Required Education
● Bachelor’s degree in Law or any other relevant field
Required Years of Experience
● Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role, 2 years of which are in managerial role
