Lead Rotating Equipment Engineer - Permanent Expat Opportunity - Middle East
A global operator in the energy sector is seeking a skilled lead rotating equipment engineer to join its team in the Middle East. This permanent expatriate role offers a tax-free salary and a comprehensive benefits package for individuals or families looking to join a long-term project.

Responsibilities
- Offer technical expertise on a wide range of rotating machinery, including dynamic compressors (e.g., centrifugal), positive displacement units (e.g., reciprocating), gearboxes, and steam turbines
- Contribute to equipment design and selection processes for new installations, as well as assess and recommend modifications for existing assets
- Maintain and refine internal standards and guidelines related to compressors, steam turbines, and gearboxes to improve reliability and performance
- Propose and evaluate innovative technologies or methods to address operational challenges and enhance equipment availability and efficiency
- Lead technical investigations into machinery performance issues and recommend effective, practical solutions
- Provide direction and mentorship to peers and less experienced engineers to strengthen technical capabilities across the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program; an advanced degree is considered a plus
- At least 20 years of experience focused on rotating equipment—particularly compressors and steam turbines—within facilities such as refineries, petrochemical plants, or gas processing units
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, analyze performance, select, and repair rotating machinery and associated systems, including seals, bearings, lubrication systems, and auxiliary components
- In-depth familiarity with applicable international standards and codes, especially those issued by API, with emphasis on rotating equipment, steam turbines, and gear mechanisms
- Ability to provide authorship of at least two recent technical reports or case studies detailing issues and solutions related to compressors and steam turbines, demonstrating sound engineering judgment and practical problem-solving
