Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Electrical Field Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the electrical systems installation, testing, and commissioning activities on-site. This role ensures that all electrical systems are completed to specification, on time, and in compliance with safety standards.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of electrical systems, and experience managing complex projects in the airport infrastructure sector.

What You'll Be Doing;

  • Lead and manage the electrical field engineering team, providing guidance and technical support for the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems on-site.
  • Ensure that electrical work is performed according to project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor the progress of electrical work, resolve any issues, and ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, backup generators, UPS systems, and electrical control systems.
  • Ensure electrical systems are installed in accordance with design specifications, drawings, and local/regional regulations.
  • Coordinate the installation of electrical systems with other disciplines, including mechanical, structural, and civil, to ensure proper integration across the project.
  • Lead the testing and commissioning activities of electrical systems, ensuring that all systems are fully functional and meet performance criteria.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of electrical systems, including functional, load, and performance testing.
  • Oversee system integration to ensure that electrical systems operate seamlessly with other building systems (e.g., fire alarm, HVAC, BMS).
  • Ensure that all electrical installations meet the required quality standards and comply with relevant electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, NFPA) and project specifications.
  • Review installation work and verify that all materials, equipment, and methods are compliant with design requirements and safety standards.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections and ensure all work is thoroughly documented, including test results and verification reports.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for electrical engineering matters on-site, coordinating with the project manager, contractors, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Facilitate communication between all project teams to ensure smooth execution of electrical tasks and resolve any coordination issues.
  • Participate in regular project meetings to update stakeholders on electrical work progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Identify and address any electrical system issues that arise during installation, testing, or commissioning phases.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site and develop solutions to keep the project on track and prevent delays.
  • Work with the design team to resolve discrepancies between design drawings and site conditions.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards and regulations, including local codes and OSHA requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture on-site, conducting regular safety audits, tool-box talks, and training sessions for the electrical team.
  • Enforce safety protocols and address any unsafe work practices immediately to minimize risks on-site.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all field activities, including installation records, inspection reports, test results, and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports on electrical systems installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of any changes, field modifications, or challenges encountered during the project.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and field staff on electrical systems, installation best practices, safety standards, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Promote a collaborative and efficient work environment by providing leadership and professional development opportunities for team members.


What Required Skills You'll Bring;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications or postgraduate qualifications in project management, electrical systems, or commissioning is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 4-5 years in a field engineering role, ideally within airport or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, such as power distribution, emergency systems, lighting, and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, NFPA) and their application to complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with electrical systems integration, including HVAC, BMS, fire safety, and other building systems.
  • Proficiency in reviewing electrical design drawings, technical specifications, and construction schedules.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team of engineers and contractors in a dynamic field environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using construction and project management software tools for documentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.\Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
  • Experience with advanced electrical tools or software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical simulation programs.
  • Familiarity with airport-specific electrical systems, including runway lighting, terminal power distribution, and other airport infrastructure.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR) are an advantage.
