WSP is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated HSE Inspector to join our team for a prominent project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This position demands a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, alongside a proven track record of ensuring the safety and compliance of work sites.
As an HSE Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting work activities, identifying hazards, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards. Your role will be vital in safeguarding the wellbeing of workers, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting a culture of safety on site.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Ensure compliance with the approved health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan across projects by closely adhering to its standards.
- Review the contractor’s HSE plan and monitor compliance to ensure alignment with project and PMO requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect the contractor’s safety arrangements and document findings in detailed reports.
- Collaborate with contractor supervisory staff to maintain high safety standards, cleanliness, and orderliness on site.
- Document all health and safety violations observed on site for accurate record-keeping and accountability.
- Track and record corrective actions taken by contractors to resolve safety defects efficiently.
- Evaluate and recommend approvals for risk assessments and safety aspects of method statements to ensure comprehensive risk management.
- Support line management by providing data and insights for weekly and monthly safety reports.
- Assist in investigating accidents and dangerous occurrences, ensuring adherence to client requirements and PMO procedures for reporting.
- Implement HSE performance management KPIs, setting targets and conducting applicable audits to measure compliance.
- Provide assurance to the business that health, safety, and environmental standards on each project are effectively monitored, supporting the PMO’s goal of safe project delivery.
- Promote a positive HSE culture that aligns with the organization’s Zero Harm Vision and safety objectives.
- Achieve safe and controlled site operations, demonstrating that activities meet PMO safety and compliance standards.
- Ensure contractors address safety defects promptly, minimizing delays and supporting continuous progress.
- Collaborate with the Client Health and Safety Team to deliver progress updates and report serious HSE violations and incidents.
- Engage with WSP Project Team Leads to promote and encourage a positive health and safety culture within the PMO.
- Advise the Contractor Senior Project Management Team on HSE matters, maintaining clear communication of safety expectations.
- Coordinate with Contractor Construction Managers to manage activities impacting health, safety, and workforce well-being.
- Liaise with Contractor HSE Managers and Officers to address safety concerns, provide guidance, and ensure issues are closed out effectively.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or HSE with minimum 5 years working experience within health, safety and environment policies and procedures in construction projects.
- Preferred to be a member of a professional association: IOSH, IIRSM or CQI
- Preferred to be a holder of NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ5 Diploma
- Demonstrate strong communication and influence skills to advocate for PMO HSE standards effectively.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) proficiently for reporting and presentations.
