Job Purpose

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The individual in the role will run a large and possibly complex change project/programme or the business change element of a large, possibly complex change project/programme. This individual will be responsible for building and managing the Business Change Capability for the business and governing the skills capability and delivery approaches relating to change management. They are also responsible for defining and managing the business benefits approach. In this role, the individual will report to a Project/Programme /Portfolio Director.

In this role the project/programme will consist of a number of projects and sub-contracts, it may use new or emerging technologies or require the adoption of new methods and practices to be into the wider business. The complex change initiative will be closely linked to the business future and strategic aims. Cross functional engagement and managing business change management teams will be crucial for delivering and triggering the wider adoption business change. In addition to these, the incumbent will Lead a team of professional and managerial staff, being responsible for managing their delivery and performance and providing appraisal and support to their development.

Job Accountabilities

  • Able to deal with large complex change 3P’s.
  • Will manage the Business Change capability for their business, governing the skills capability and delivery approaches.
  • Provide leadership and management for their assigned project/programme and take responsibility for delivery of change management.
  • Define the business benefits realisation standards for their business area.
  • Monitor and report project/programme change element performance and ensure full integration at a strategic level.
  • Establish and maintain strong stakeholder (internal and external) relationships maintaining regular communications and managing expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a BAESSA (UK and KSA) change network ensuring training is available and undertaken
  • Proactively identify the risk arising from the change activities and ensure they are properly managed within the project/programme context.
  • Ensure any change management activities are properly incorporated into any project/programme LCM activities.
  • Evaluate the performance of change management subordinates using appropriate objectives.
  • Manage a team of senior/executive staff and ensuring continuous coaching to enhance their capability.
  • Take particular responsibility for enhancing change management capability on the project/programme and within the Line of Business.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • PM Qualification such as the APM Project Management Qualification.

Business Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of Change Management policies, process, procedures, tools, techniques and systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of leadership theories and how to apply them in a business context.
  • Comprehensive experience of delivering, reviewing and auditing projects and programmes to time, cost and quality.
  • Detailed Change Management experience with specialist skills to ensure standards are met and to deliver new methods of working.
  • Comprehensive experience understanding of the business’ strategic aims and to create an environment in which your business will meet these.
  • Deep understanding of how to influence senior stakeholders to achieve business benefits.
  • Detailed knowledge of Change Management governance and assurance practices, with knowledge on how to tailor these to ensure the adoption of standardised practices.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex risk or maximising new opportunities within 3P structures.
  • Compressive knowledge of the current business change capability and its people.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business’ customers, markets, strategic priorities and culture.
  • Advance knowledge of changes within technology, change management, and transformation with knowledge on how to leverage these to provide business efficiencies and strategic opportunities.

Functional Knowledge

  • The ability to design and apply an approach, framework and toolset to support and enable change programmes, particularly as they relate to the impact of the change on people.
  • Effectively manage Projects or Work Packages of high complexity and provide guidance in those areas.
  • Review and internally audit Change Management Processes or Projects, including authorisation of budgets.
  • Applies problem solving techniques to situations of high complexity.
  • Leads the application of the principles of Business Change Management in more complex situations.
  • Effective reviewing throughout the Project Management Lifecycle (will be an LCM reviewer).
  • Managing and developing a team of senior/executive staff, monitoring their quality of work and contributing to their performance management.
  • Strong communicator with a comprehensive ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders and exchange complex information.
  • The ability to lead and inspire the wider team.
  • Can manage risks, opportunities, and uncertainty in complex dynamic situations.
