Position Summary
To manage a portfolio of diverse and complex engagements for external stakeholders. Oversee and develop the assigned pyramid of professional resources. Contribute to expanding the consulting business for KAPSARC in the energy market by leveraging KAPSARC’s distinctive thought leadership, expertise, functional offerings, and strategic partnerships to provide best-in-class professional services to clients.
Major Accountabilities
Strategy and Plans
- In conjunction with the VP, formulate and direct the implementation of the functional strategy in line with KAPSARC’s vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
- Ensure that the overall business strategy is translated into annual operational business and monitor the performance to ensure alignment.
- Provide subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and advise leadership on related areas to help achieve strategic objectives.
People Management
- Provide overall direction to achieve objectives through effective leadership by setting individual objectives, managing performance, and mentoring and developing the team to maximize performance and learning.
Business Development
- Lead the business development activities, in collaboration with other key stakeholders, by displaying a sound judgment in anticipating and understanding client needs, proposing new functional offerings and thought leadership initiatives, and leading aspects of the development of proposals to seize business opportunities and win new projects.
- Review the data on existing and potential clients to identify opportunities for new projects and manage and maintain a healthy pipeline.
Project Management
- Oversee the management of the assigned portfolio of consulting projects and partner with the Knowledge and Analysis team to develop solutions and deliverables to ensure that they are delivered to the highest level of client satisfaction, within agreed scope of work, timescales, and budget.
- Coordinate and manage the communication process with clients, sharing the deliverables, seeking inputs and feedback, and making relevant changes to ensure the deliverables meet their expectations.
- Set the principles and standards for performing the conceptual and problem-solving exercises and provide the necessary coaching to the project team on delivery approach, analytical techniques, and overall storyline to build the conceptual and problem-solving capabilities of the project team.
Partnership/Relationship Management
- Manage several key client accounts to build and foster long-term partnerships, providing high-quality professional services to manage their expectations and fulfill their needs.
Requests and Resources Management
- Provide key inputs on the scoping of the energy sector stakeholder requests and the allocation of resources to ensure that projects will be delivered in line with a clearly defined scope of work leveraging the best-fit project team and technical capabilities.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of functional systems, processes, and practices, considering global standards and changes in the business environment.
Policies, Systems, Processes, and Procedures
- Direct the development and oversee the implementation of functional policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
Reporting
- Direct the preparation of periodical management reports and progress reports to keep senior management informed about the progress of various initiatives and to facilitate decision-making.
Related Assignments

Qualifications and Experience
Recommended Qualifications and Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field, with 15-19 years of experience; and/or
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field, with 13-17 years of relevant; or
- Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field, with 11-13 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of delivering client-centric projects.
- Prior experience working in a consulting capacity is a must.
- Experience in the energy sector and/or public policy is preferred.
