Main Purpose Of The Job
Mott MacDonald is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support on-going water, wastewater and primary infrastructure projects in the region. You will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers working on various water and infrastructure projects in domestic and international locations.

Mott MacDonald is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support on-going water, wastewater and primary infrastructure projects in the region. You will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers working on various water and infrastructure projects in domestic and international locations.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Preparing relevant mechanical technical specifications and procurement items.
- Responsible for mechanical design, including pump and motor specifications, piping details, standby power generation systems, general building services.
- Responsible for preparation of technical reports and drawings.
- Coordinate the project team comprising of process, civil and electrical designers to ensure designs are completed on time and within budget.
- Contribute to tendering packages to comply with client requirements, project schedules and laws and regulations.
- Review vendor documentation with respect to mechanical items and materials to ensure compliance with the requirements.
- Comply with project controls for quality, programme, and cost requirements.
- Prepare mechanical engineering designs which meet project, company and client specifications for safe design.
- Communicate with stakeholders at a technical level sufficient to get designs and documentation approved by approving authorities.
- Provide technical assurance of mechanical designs for projects within your programme and ensure that the assigned mechanical activities are performed in accordance with the engineering design requirements, project contract agreements, schedules as well as safety and quality standards.
- Degree in mechanical engineering degree or equivalent from an accredited university
- Can demonstrate progress towards being Chartered with recognized authority, with experience in water and wastewater, non-infrastructure, and/or primary infrastructure projects.
- Experience in working on water/wastewater projects throughout feasibility stage, outline and detailed design, construction supervision and preferably operation / optimisation / commissioning.
- Must have experience in preparing design documents and drawings associated with the design of water and wastewater assets within the water sector.
- Shall be able to demonstrate the following key skills:
- Water and wastewater pumping station design, including control philosophy
- Water and wastewater infrastructure design
- Desalination plant project experience preferable
- Knowledge of water and wastewater quality standards
- Steady state hydraulics and appreciation of transient effects.
- Design of pipework above ground and below ground, within treatment plants and within the field
- Preparing contract documents, calculations, drawings & reports
- Knowledge of interfaces with process, mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Understanding of PFDs, P&IDs
- Knowledge of testing and commissioning
- Flexibility to travel within the UAE and overseas would be advantageous to help support our UAE and international workload.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in the English language), both written and verbal is a must.
