Job Overview

The E-Commerce Growth Specialist is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of a company’s online business by identifying and implementing effective strategies to increase traffic, improve conversion rates, and ultimately boost online sales. This role focuses on leveraging data, market insights, and marketing strategies to accelerate the performance of the e-commerce platform. The ideal candidate will have a combination of analytical skills, creativity, and experience in driving digital marketing and growth strategies within the e-commerce sector.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy Development & Execution

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow online sales and customer acquisition through various digital marketing channels such as paid media, SEO, content marketing, email marketing, and social media.
  • Identify and capitalize on new growth opportunities, including expanding into new markets, optimizing sales funnels, and increasing product discoverability.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to launch new products, enhance existing offerings, and drive traffic through targeted campaigns.
  • Continuously analyze performance metrics and implement changes to optimize campaigns and strategies for better results.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

  • Lead efforts to optimize website performance, increasing conversion rates through improvements in user experience, A/B testing, and content refinement.
  • Analyze user behavior on the e-commerce site using tools like Google Analytics, Hotjar, and Crazy Egg to uncover friction points in the customer journey.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers and web developers to optimize landing pages, checkout flows, and mobile responsiveness to reduce abandonment rates.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience and streamline the purchase process, ensuring maximum ease and efficiency for site visitors.

Customer Acquisition & Retention

  • Drive customer acquisition by developing and managing paid advertising campaigns (PPC, Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, etc.) focused on increasing online sales and brand awareness.
  • Leverage email marketing campaigns to engage customers, nurture leads, and increase repeat purchases (newsletters, promotions, product updates).
  • Implement retention strategies to increase lifetime value (LTV), including loyalty programs, personalized offers, and remarketing initiatives.
  • Build and refine customer segmentation strategies to ensure marketing efforts are tailored to the right audiences at the right time.

Data-Driven Decision Making & Analytics

  • Utilize data analytics tools (Google Analytics, Tableau, etc.) to track and measure key performance metrics such as traffic, conversion rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and return on ad spend (ROAS).
  • Perform regular reporting on e-commerce performance and growth initiatives, providing actionable insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis of marketing campaigns, customer behaviors, and product performance to guide decisions on future growth strategies.
  • Identify and address key bottlenecks in the sales funnel, continuously improving the conversion process through data-backed insights.

SEO & Content Strategy

  • Implement and manage SEO strategies to increase organic traffic to the website and improve search engine rankings for key product and category pages.
  • Work closely with content creators to develop SEO-optimized product descriptions, blog content, and other digital content that drives traffic and engagement.
  • Optimize on-site content for long-tail and high-intent keywords that attract high-converting visitors.
  • Ensure that SEO efforts align with broader growth strategies and that the website’s content structure supports search engine visibility.

Paid Advertising & Retargeting Campaigns

  • Manage and optimize paid media campaigns (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.) with a focus on driving ROI, customer acquisition, and lead generation.
  • Develop and execute retargeting campaigns to re-engage past visitors, abandoned carts, and inactive customers, driving them back to the site to complete purchases.
  • Continuously monitor paid advertising campaigns, optimizing for performance and testing different creative, messaging, and targeting strategies.
  • Analyze advertising spend and budget allocation to ensure campaigns are efficient and cost-effective.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, design, and customer service teams to ensure all e-commerce strategies align with business goals and customer needs.
  • Work with the product team to identify best-selling and underperforming products, creating strategies to drive visibility and sales.
  • Collaborate with content creators, designers, and developers to implement marketing strategies, landing pages, promotional banners, and product pages that increase sales.
  • Coordinate with customer service to ensure that customer queries and feedback are addressed promptly, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Competitive Analysis & Market Research

  • Continuously monitor competitors and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and new growth tactics.
  • Track competitor pricing, product launches, marketing strategies, and promotions to stay ahead of industry trends and adapt accordingly.
  • Conduct regular market research to understand customer needs, pain points, and expectations to ensure that the e-commerce platform remains competitive and appealing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in e-commerce growth, digital marketing, or a similar role, with a proven track record of driving online sales growth.
  • Proficient in e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce) and digital marketing tools (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of conversion rate optimization (CRO) techniques and the customer journey.
  • Experience with A/B testing, data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and experience implementing them to drive traffic and rankings.
  • Strong understanding of paid advertising strategies, including PPC, display ads, and retargeting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with advanced analytics platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Klaviyo, Mailchimp) and customer segmentation.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for making quick site updates or adjustments.
  • Experience working with or managing a team.
  • MBA or other advanced business qualifications are a plus.
