Your Role

We're seeking a DevOps Engineer (Associate) for our Platform Engineering team. As a Platform Engineer, you will be crucial in building reliable, secure, and scalable platform components that support Tamara’s developers in delivering high-quality products efficiently.

Drawing on your proficiency in cloud infrastructure, internal tooling, and developer platforms, you will be responsible for contributing to the implementation and improvement of foundational platform services, such as CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, and automation tooling, to create internal engineering experiences only Tamara can provide.

With a growing track record of collaborating within cross-functional squads, you will work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, and platform specialists to contribute to internal platform solutions, understand system design decisions, and gain hands-on exposure to real-world reliability and scalability challenges, ultimately helping revolutionize the way millions of users shop, pay, and bank.

You are a driven, determined, curious team player, knowing that collective strength means we all win. With a positive outlook, you are solution-oriented–persevering regardless of circumstances, always finding a way through, no matter the challenges.

You will effectively find a way to work with everyone through empathy and respect. You will be driven and comfortable with responding quickly with urgency, with the ability to change course without losing momentum and energy, resulting in great success

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and supporting core platform components including Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, and monitoring tools.
  • Learn and contribute to infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform and Helm.
  • Support senior engineers in incident handling, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Help document platform tools, runbooks, and processes to support team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team discussions to develop technical and collaboration skills.
  • Take ownership of small platform tasks or improvements with guidance and mentorship.

Your Expertise

Experience

  • At a minimum, you will have a maximum of 2 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Backend Engineering (with a focus on reliability and internal systems), or a related field.

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems, containers (e.g., Docker), and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or OCI)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm—able to manage Kubernetes clusters and deploy basic services
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Ability to work with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins) and write simple deployment scripts
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Comfortable with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Bash, Python, or Go)

Attributes

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and enthusiastic about infrastructure and platform technologies
  • Comfortable asking for help and collaborating in a team setting
  • Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Adaptable and curious, with a passion for continuous improvement and growth
