Job description:

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in data center infrastructure to join our Riyadh Data Center Operations team. The ideal candidate will oversee mechanical system design, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, uptime, and readiness for high-density workloads including AI/GPU hosting.

Key Responsibilities:

· Monitor facility KPIs to ensure 24/7 operational stability and service continuity.

· Design, commission, and maintain mechanical systems including:

  • HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units
  • Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers
  • Fuel systems, AHUs, and ventilation

· Perform preventive/corrective maintenance and emergency recovery via BMS/DCIM platforms.

· Conduct CFD and thermal analysis to improve airflow, reduce hotspots, and enhance PUE performance.

· Prepare and manage technical documentation: SOPs, MoPs, EOPs, P&IDs, and compliance documents in line with ASHRAE, NFPA, SBC, ISO, Uptime Tier, and BICSI standards.

· Handle equipment startups, shutdowns, and isolation protocols.

· Manage spares inventory and documentation for 100% uptime readiness.

· Coordinate with OEMs and service vendors for both planned and unplanned interventions.

· Drive cost-saving and sustainability initiatives including energy-efficient design and operational improvements.

· Participate in customer-facing documentation and reporting (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc).

· Support certifications including TÜViT, ISO 27001, SOC-2, and Civil Defense audits.

· Lead mechanical scope in data center upgrades or retrofits (e.g., high-density readiness).

· Supervise and train technicians, ensuring shift coverage and operational excellence.

· Act as backup to the Data Center Operations Manager during absence.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

· Minimum 8 years experience in data center or mission-critical facility operations.

· Expertise in:

  • HVAC/Chiller design & maintenance
  • CFD/thermal modeling & containment strategies
  • VFDs, CRAC/CRAH systems, economizers, refrigerants, fuel pumps

· Familiar with PUE measurement & optimization, high-density rack cooling, and GPU-ready setups.

· Hands-on with DCIM/BMS tools (e.g., Schneider, Siemens, Honeywell).

· Familiar with SBC, ASHRAE 90.4, and TIA-942 requirements for mechanical systems.

· Strong documentation/reporting skills in Microsoft Office.

· Excellent communication, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Certifications (Bonus):

· CDCP – Certified Data Centre Professional

· ATS – Uptime Institute Tier Specialist or equivalent

· CDCFOM_ Data Center Facilities Operations Manager

· Training in AI/GPU facility thermal design is a plus
