Commodity Technical Expert - #17077

Aramco, one of the world's leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, and international contract logistics provider DHL Supply Chain have announced the signing of a shareholders' agreement for a to establish a New Company for Procurement and Logistics Hub in Saudi Arabia, to enhance supply chain efficiency and sustainability. It would be the region's first such hub catering to customers in the industrial, energy, chemical and petrochemical sectors. The joint venture aims to be operational in 2025 and provide reliable end-to-end integrated procurement and supply chain services for companies across the industrial, energy, chemical and petrochemical sectors. Our focus customers in the short term will be Saudi Aramco and its own Affiliates. And in the long term would be all the industrial sectors within Saudi Arabia and the ultimate goal is to reach the MENA region in future
Currently, we are seeking a dynamic person to take on the role of Commodity Technical Expert, to be hired for this JV based in Al Khobar
Objective:

• Provides technical and professional engineering assistance and guidance in the standards and application of materials, spare parts, and equipment supporting operating facilities and operations, fieldwide.
• Brings technical requirements into category and commodity strategies, sourcing initiatives (tenders, e-auctions, bidding) and similar key procurement activities.
• Shares knowledge with various specialists in the Procurement department to achieve strategic objectives, e.g., in relation to sustainability, risk management, supplier development, demand and supply management, local content development.

General Responsibilities:

• Bring specification knowledge into category strategies, tenders and bidding and supplier development.
• Build, share and keep up to date the technical knowledge related to certain commodities in which the Technical Commodity Expert is deployed.
• Closely collaborate with cross-functional Category Management team.
• Potentially join supplier negotiations and commercial initiatives to translate technical requirements into request-for-proposals and contract documentation.
• Provide input to administrators and process experts to ensure that product specifications and technical details are covered sufficiently and correctly in various Procurement systems and the eMarketplace.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science-related equivalent. Depending on the commodity or category for which the Commodity Technical Expert will be deployed, additional certifications may be required.
• Experience in and knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
• 2-5 years’ experience in engineering design, materials engineering, maintenance engineering or research or laboratory related experience, depending on commodity complexity and strategic importance. Three years in Aramco is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Must have in-depth knowledge of materials, equipment, and related parts in field of expertise and familiarity with governing standards and practices.
• Familiarity with materials procedures and policies is preferred.
• Excellent command of oral and written English.
• Work with ERP systems and complex technical data.
• Bring across engineering know-how and complex technical information to colleagues and stakeholders in an understandable and professional manner.
