The Business Development Team will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of Barker Langham within the dynamic and evolving cultural sector of Saudi Arabia. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and contributing to the development of a sustainable cultural ecosystem in line with Vision 2030 and beyond. Additionally, they oversee the management and development of tender processes and tender portals globally, ensuring efficient procurement strategies, compliance, and successful bid submissions to drive growth and sustainability.
Purpose of the Role
The core purpose of the Business Development Manager is to drive sustainable growth for the organization within Saudi Arabia's evolving cultural sector. This is achieved by:
- Overseeing tender management, including the development, submission, and tracking of tenders.
- Administering and optimising procurement & tender portals.
- Securing new business opportunities.
- Establishing strategic partnerships, with a focus on building relationships with key stakeholders in the cultural sector, aimed at expanding market reach
- Effectively positioning the organization as a leader within the KSA cultural landscape by regularly engaging in high-profile cultural events or collaborations, increasing brand awareness.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve revenue targets.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, cultural institutions, private sector organizations, and individual artists/creatives.
- Generate and qualify leads through networking, and other proactive methods.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Remain up to date with the evolving cultural landscape of the Kingdom.
Market Analysis & Strategic Planning:
- Develop and maintain key documents for identifying and tracking business opportunities,conducting competitor analysis, and researching market trends within the culture, arts, and heritage sectors in KSA.
- Translate business strategies and insights into actionable operational plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic business development decisions and maintain competitive advantage.
Tender Management and Presentation Development
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop strategic proposals and presentations tailored to client needs and market dynamics in both English and Arabic.
- Take operational ownership of proposal development, presentation creation, admin and maintenance of business development materials.
Strategic Partnerships & Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including cultural organizations, government institutions, and international collaborators.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships to enhance the company's offerings and expand its reach.
- Facilitate collaborative projects and initiatives that contribute to the development of the cultural sector.
Project Management & Execution:
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects and initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management.
Representation & Advocacy:
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Remain up to date with the evolving cultural landscape of the Kingdom.
Management of Portals
- Manage and maintain tender portals
- Continuously update and improve tender portal usage, ensuring efficient document management and bid tracking.
- Regularly monitor tender portals for new bid opportunities and ensure timely registration and response.
- Upload, organize, and maintain bid-related documents within the portal for easy access and compliance.
- Maintain a clear record of submitted bids, track progress, and generate reports on bid success rates and areas for improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or access issues related to tender portals to avoid submission delays.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of the KSA cultural landscape, including government initiatives, key stakeholders, and emerging trends.
- Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing successful partnerships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of tender portal software, document management systems, and related tools for efficient bid management.
- Proficiency in Google Slides & Spreadsheets
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Arts Management, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in bid management, business development, sales, or partnership management, preferably within the culture, arts, or heritage sectors within KSA
- Strong understanding of the KSA cultural landscape, including government initiatives, key stakeholders, and emerging trends.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing successful partnerships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
