Job Description

WSP Middle East are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Associate Director to lead our Roads & Highways design team, based in Riyadh. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical delivery of major roads & highways design projects, driving business growth, and leading a team to achieve excellence in project outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s footprint in the region by building client relationships and ensuring the highest standards in road and highway design.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Roads & Highways design, excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic, familiar with the KSA market and have the ability to drive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Roads & Highways design team to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee the development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for road and highway infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex engineering issues related to Roads & Highways design.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of design documents, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in Roads & Highways design and incorporate them into project deliverables.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members to enhance their technical skills and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement within the Roads & Highways design team.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Master's degree is preferred.
  • Overall 18+ Years of Industry Experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a roads design lead role (last 5 years in KSA).
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex Roads & Highways projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong KSA Client engagement skills (worked as a roads lead or PM/design manager for infrastructure for Roads General Authority i.e. RCRC, MOT, MOMRA, JM, RM etc.).
  • Sound technical knowledge and proficiency in relevant design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MX Road, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Arabic, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while effectively prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional engineering license (PE) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian regulations and standards related to Roads & Highways design is advantageous.
