Architect - Facade, Theming & Stonework

Overview

The Architect will be responsible for designing and overseeing the execution of building facades, thematic elements, and stonework for high-end construction projects. This role combines creative vision with technical expertise to deliver aesthetically striking, structurally sound, and compliant exterior designs. The position requires close collaboration with clients, engineers and contractors, and artisans to ensure that all facade and stonework elements align with project specifications, approved shop drawings, materials, sustainability goals, and budget constraints.

Your role

Facade Engineering documents review and supervision

• Review and processing engineering submittals related to façade works including glazing, stone cladding and theming plaster renders.
• Review Contractor's shop drawings against the design [tender] drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments / approval.
• Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractor's'adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
• Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
• Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
• Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
• Monitors procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and sustainability standards.
  
  

Project Coordination

• Work closely with structural engineers to ensure facade and stonework designs are feasible and safe.
• Participate in client meetings to present design concepts and incorporate feedback.
• Provide technical support during construction to resolve facade-related issues.
  
  

Quality & Compliance

• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and adherence to design specifications.
• Ensure all designs meet environmental performance standards and energy efficiency requirements
  
  

About You

Education

• Bachelor'S or Master's degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
• Specialization or certification in facade engineering or building envelopes is a plus.
  
  

Experience

• 8-10 years of experience in architectural design/supervision with a focus on facades, theming, and stonework within high end projects in KSA.
• Proven portfolio showcasing facade and stonework projects
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale design projects
  
  

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction, local and international building codes and sustainability standards, and project's lifecycle.
• Technical assessments experience with extensive knowledge of Architectural detailing and façade systems.
• Coordination of various disciplines involved in project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of building materials, stonework techniques, and facade systems.
  
  

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  
  

Preferred Attributes

• Knowledge of advanced facade technologies (e.g., curtain walls, ventilated facades).
• Experience in thematic design for hospitality or cultural projects.
• Understanding of stone sourcing, finishing techniques, and installation best practices.
• Experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is a plus
