Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented 4D/5D Modelling Lead to join our team!

What You’ll Be Doing

4D and 5D Modelling Leadership:

• Lead the development and implementation of 4D (time) and 5D (cost) models, integrating these models with the overall BIM workflow to enhance the project’s efficiency and control.
• Coordinate with project teams, including designers, engineers, and construction managers, to ensure accurate and up-to-date integration of schedules (4D) and cost data (5D) within the model.
• Ensure that the 4D and 5D models are effectively utilized to manage and track project timelines, resources, and costs, allowing for optimized decision-making and progress tracking.
  
  
  

BIM Integration And Coordination

• Work closely with the BIM team to align 4D/5D models with the project’s overall 3D BIM models, ensuring seamless integration between design, construction, and operational phases.
• Oversee the data exchange between the BIM software and project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost estimation systems.
• Collaborate with other modelling leads (e.g., Structural, MEP, Civil) to ensure that all disciplines are effectively incorporated into the 4D/5D models, enhancing the accuracy of the project’s schedule and cost analysis.
  
  
  

Project Scheduling And Planning

• Collaborate with project managers and schedulers to translate the project schedule into a 4D model, visually representing project activities over time.
• Ensure that the schedule is optimized within the 4D model, and that any delays, bottlenecks, or critical milestones are identified and communicated effectively.
• Continuously update the 4D model to reflect changes in the project timeline, ensuring that the project stakeholders have an accurate, real-time view of project progress.
  
  
  

Cost Estimation And Control

• Integrate cost data into the 5D model, ensuring that all project costs (including labor, materials, and equipment) are tracked and represented in relation to project activities and milestones.
• Work closely with the Cost Control Team to ensure that the 5D model reflects accurate cost forecasts and budget updates, supporting decision-making and providing visibility into potential cost overruns or savings.
• Use the 5D model to facilitate value engineering discussions and help identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or schedule.
  
  
  

Collaboration With Stakeholders

• Act as the primary liaison between various project stakeholders, ensuring that the 4D and 5D models are aligned with the needs of the design, construction, and operations teams.
• Conduct regular meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, address issues, and ensure that the 4D/5D models continue to meet project objectives.
• Provide training and guidance to team members on how to effectively use the 4D/5D models for scheduling and cost management.
  
  
  

Model Visualization And Reporting

• Oversee the creation of visualization tools and dashboards that utilize the 4D and 5D models to communicate project status, potential risks, and opportunities to senior leadership, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on the 4D/5D models to support project decision-making, improve project performance, and ensure project milestones and budgets are met.
• Use the models to prepare reports for progress updates, presentations, and decision-making, making complex data accessible and easy to understand for all stakeholders.
  
  
  

Quality Control And Model Integrity

• Ensure that the integrity of the 4D and 5D models is maintained throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring they remain accurate, up-to-date, and free of errors.
• Conduct regular model audits to ensure compliance with industry standards, project requirements, and best practices in 4D/5D modelling.
• Develop and enforce best practices for model management, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all project documentation.
  
  
  

Innovation And Technology Integration

• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in 4D/5D modeling technologies and methodologies.
• Implement innovative tools and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of the 4D/5D models, such as integrating augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) to visualize project timelines and costs.
• Explore and propose opportunities for integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning) to improve the accuracy and predictive capabilities of 4D/5D models.
  
  
  

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMI-PMP, APM, LEED) is a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in BIM, with at least 5 years focused on 4D/5D modelling for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, or similar platforms, and integration with project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Strong understanding of cost estimation techniques and project scheduling practices, with the ability to effectively integrate these aspects into the 5D/4D models.
• Skills & Knowledge:
• Expertise in 4D (time) and 5D (cost) modelling techniques, including the ability to merge project schedules and cost data into interactive and dynamic models.
• Strong knowledge of BIM and the ability to manage complex 3D models and integrate them into broader project management processes.
• Proficiency in using project management and cost estimation software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, CostX, Procore).
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify project risks, delays, and cost issues using 4D/5D models.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project teams.
  

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Certifications:
• Certification in BIM, PMI-PMP, or APM.
• Advanced Revit and Navisworks certification or other relevant BIM qualifications.
• Industry Experience:
• Experience in large infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation systems, airports, utilities, highways).
• Experience with integrating BIM models into broader project management workflows (e.g., scheduling, budgeting, cost control).
• Technological Expertise:
• Familiarity with advanced BIM visualization tools (e.g., V-Ray, Lumion, Enscape) and the integration of virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) for project visualization.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and their applications in 4D/5D modeling.
