Thermal Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly qualified Thermal Design Engineer with strong experience in thermal system design and heat transfer applications within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in the design, sizing, analysis, and optimization of heat exchangers and related thermal equipment, with proven exposure to Saudi Aramco projects and engineering standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing thermal design calculations, preparing technical documentation, supporting project execution teams, and ensuring compliance with client specifications and international engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thermal design, rating, and performance analysis of various types of heat exchangers, including shell-and-tube, air-cooled, plate, and specialty exchangers.
• Develop and review thermal calculations, process datasheets, equipment specifications, and design reports.
• Conduct heat transfer, fluid flow, pressure drop, and energy balance calculations.
• Prepare technical proposals, engineering studies, and feasibility assessments for thermal systems.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, and Project Engineering teams to ensure design integration and project compliance.
• Review vendor drawings, calculations, technical submissions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, technical clarification meetings, and client presentations.
• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning, and startup phases.
• Troubleshoot operational issues related to thermal equipment and recommend performance improvement solutions.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with Saudi Aramco specifications, international codes, and industry best practices.
• Support project teams during client audits, inspections, and technical evaluations.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8–15 years of relevant experience in thermal design engineering within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or Industrial projects.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of heat exchangers is essential.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and process equipment design.
• Experience using industry-standard thermal design and simulation software.
• Familiarity with ASME, TEMA, API, and relevant international engineering standards.
• Previous involvement in EPC, consultancy, manufacturing, or engineering design environments is highly preferred.
• Excellent technical reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Mandatory Requirement

• Proven Saudi Aramco project experience is mandatory.
• Candidates must possess sufficient technical depth and project exposure to successfully participate in and pass a Saudi Aramco technical interview process.
• Experience working in accordance with Saudi Aramco engineering standards, specifications, and approval procedures is essential.
