Job Description

The Neurology Technician plays a vital role in supporting neurologists and other healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating patients with neurological disorders. This position requires specialized knowledge of neurology, technical skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care

Patient Care

  • Conduct diagnostic tests, Perform and assist with various neurological diagnostic tests and procedures, such as electroencephalograms (EEG), nerve conduction studies, electromyograms (EMG), and autonomic testing, following established protocols.
  • Prepare patients for neurological tests, explain procedures, and provide instructions to ensure their comfort and cooperation during the tests.
  • Assist during procedures: Provide support to neurologists during diagnostic procedures, help with patient positioning, equipment setup, and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth flow of patient care.

Patient Education and Support

  • Assesses patient educational and needs and interacts with relevant staff and departments to facilitate requirement.
  • Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, diagnostic tests, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications as prescribed by the neurologist.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families during challenging times.
  • Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and follow-up care

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, Nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless transitions of care and optimal patient outcomes

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Record and document results: Accurately record test results, patient information, and other relevant data in electronic medical records (EMR) systems for review by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding patient documentation.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all time

Safety and Infection Control

  • Maintain equipment: Ensure that neurology equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use, following manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols..
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Implement safety measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors from accidents and injuries.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards in the healthcare environment.
  • Identifies and reports defective or broken equipment, safety hazards and environmental hazards.

Professional Development

  • Professional development: Stay informed about advancements in neurology technology, diagnostic techniques, and treatment options through ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and skill development through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competence in all mandatory competencies.
  • Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the position

Quality Improvement and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, protocols, and safety standards to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient complaints and concerns. Initiates the nursing of administrative chain of command if unable to resolve patient issues
  • Assists the Head Nurse of the unit by willing acceptance of any other work-related responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job

Skills

  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, common neurological disorders, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. and the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs and environments.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • BLS certification
  • Service mindset
  • Valid Saudi Council
