Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Safety Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to With general oversight from a safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) manager or director, assists or advises a project or program manager in ensuring that the site-specific SH&E plans, workplaces, and operational tasks being conducted conform to Parsons' risk management practices and comply with the prevailing regulatory and client SH&E requirements. Reports by dotted line to a project or program manager, and reports directly to the Parsons corporate SH&E functional group through a SH&E manager or director.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Advises and assists the project manager, program manager, and/or other project personnel in conforming to Parsons’ Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk Program (ESHARP) management system and Parsons’ policies and procedures.
  • Audits the project or program and its worksites against corporate standards.
  • Inspects worksites to detect hazards and provides expertise to project or program personnel to eliminate/control the SH&E risks associated with exposure to the hazards.
  • Creates and submits written audit and inspection reports.
  • Implements Parsons’ occupational injury and incident reporting and management processes.
  • Initiates and conducts thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses using defensible protocols.
  • Works collaboratively with the project or program manager, craft workers, and other project or program personnel to identify effective corrective actions.
  • Creates and submits comprehensive investigation reports and lessons learned.
  • Performs trends analyses on audit findings, inspection findings, and incident reports; creates and submits regular analysis reports.
  • Represents Parsons during external regulatory or loss control inspections of project worksites.
  • Represents the SH&E manager or director on project or program worksites.
  • Seeks active and personal participation from the project or program manager, craft workers, and other project or program personnel to identify SH&E improvements and to implement the improvements.
  • Assists with risk assessments for upcoming work and provides SH&E subject matter expertise to work planning processes.
  • Assists the project or program manager with new hire orientation.
  • Performs regulatory and best practice SH&E training.
  • Creates and maintains SH&E training records.
  • Participates in routine safe work briefings.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-8 years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety.
  • Implement corporate HSE Policy, HSE plan and HSE legislation and other requirements, monitor HSE performance, HSE targets and suggest measures for further improvement.
  • Make sure that client’s safety requirements are being full filled.
  • Liaise with safety manager and contractors for the improvement & implementation of corporate HSE management ethics.
  • Monitor contractors to ensure the implementation of applicable safety measures at site to full fill Legal and client requirements.
  • Review Site safety Plan, Emergency plan, and other safety related plans submitted by the contractor. Review Method Statement and risk analysis for all activities and monitor the effectiveness of hazard control measures. Carry out HSE inspections and report to resident engineer for immediate rectification.
  • Review and monitor contractors monthly HSE inspections / reports.
  • Conducting monthly Safety meetings, setting the target to achieve the outstanding issues, prepare / submit the minutes to all concern to follow-up.
  • Review incident/accident investigation reports from contractors, reporting & communicating the learning points, and monitor the immediate action and follow-up actions to minimize / prevent from re-occurrence.
  • Excellent English / Arabic written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience of working internationally (preference KSA experience).
